| I have been and am doing a lot of research about the breed. I really want to get everything that I can ready for my dream dog. I am looking to get one later this year (after summertime).
I will be putting a fence up on my property and prepare a sleeping area. We have a super smart Pomeranian that have trained and trained. (Love her so much too!)
But just wanted to say hi and I will be using the resources found here and other places as well!
Matt from Pennsylvania

| Welcome to the forum! One of the best ways to start is to find a reputable breeder. One who will help you out and answer any questions you may have. Here's what to look for in a breeder: https://www.itsahuskything.com/t1042-how-to-find-a-reputable-breeder (though keep in mind not all the breeders on the AKC classifieds are reputable. looks for the ones with breeder merit) Also I should have asked first, are you wanting a puppy or an adult?! lol. _________________ -Sara |

| I want to start off right with a reputable breeder like our Pomeranian is from. She's our families dog but my wife wanted her first! lol I do want a female puppy with black markings. Maybe we will adopt a young adult from a shelter after that. We have seen a couple at ours, and they go fast here! I have contacted a breeder a couple of days ago from the AKC.org website classifieds already. She had one left. So pretty but she was brown and it's not the right time for us at this moment. Like I said, we are looking at later this year. I will start looking at the classifieds again this summertime. |

| Like I said, be careful with those breeders on AKC classifieds. From what I've seen, the only reputable ones are the AKC Breeders of Merit ones and there are very few of those listed right now. A better place to look is on the Siberian Husky Club of America's wesite: http://www.shca.org/shcahp4f.htm Check the list for breeders in your state or however far you're willing to go. E-mail those breeders and even if they don't have puppies when you are looking or ones that match what you want, they will most likely be willing to point you to another reputable breeder who does have puppies. I contacted a lot of breeders before finding my Elara and eventually found my way to her by referrence from another breeder. _________________ -Sara |

| I don't know if it is the same with huskies but I know good malamute breeder will go with temperament and personality rather than color. I was able to get my malamute because she was the runt of the litter and they couldn't show her. I am a huge advocate of rescues, but a good breeder is okay! II used to rescue and transport huskies. I am a huge educator for northern breeds. I always tell people to come to meet ups and rescues to see how the breeds are. I always have people watch this video:

I am known as the lists lady. lol haha

I know someone mentioned they got their pup here also. She breeds amazing dogs. Like mine Hey that's me! I never asked because it wasn't relevant, but I feel like most reputable breeders wouldn't be willing to ship their pups across the country, especially coast to coast. |

| Yea Galena creek was great, she sent us all the answers through email about what people buying a dog from a breeder should ask, what to expect, what to feed, how much to feed during her first year, she came micro chipped and also wanted pictures of our home and information about us during the process, she loves her dogs and has been doing it for a long time. Taught her basic commands, taught us how to potty train her the quickest (the way she starts teaching them before they get adopted) and hip and eye certified. |
