Problems with Bob Empty
PostSubject: Problems with Bob   Problems with Bob EmptySun Apr 01, 2012 4:57 pm

As most know Bob had a FHO in January and is now going to therapy. Well he went to the Vet for the monthly visit and the Vet did not like what he saw. True Bob hops and then puts the leg down. but it is getting better and longer since he goes to therapy and we take our long walks. However when he was checked the Vet said the muscle in that leg although better in the back of the bone not in the front. He wants to take more xrays asap . I explained to the Vet remember he had that broken problem since early last year and his leg was always bowing out and one leg shorter. He said that might be true but he still should be almost walking perfect by now. I took him outside to show the Vet and what happened I tripped and fell flat on my face. First thing I did was look up for Bob as I had dropped the leash and he was just standing there looking down at me (luv this boy) So of course bob did not perform like he did for me with the Tech as she took the leash to walk him while I dusted myself off with a red face Sad Any how Bob is going in tomorrow for more xrays. I pray all is well.

PostSubject: Re: Problems with Bob   Problems with Bob EmptyMon Apr 02, 2012 1:40 pm

Hi Everyone,
Well the Vet just called and the news is not as good as I had hoped. Seems that leg is shorter than the other a lot (it was shorter before the operation but more now) and bottom part of the leg to the paw is twisted causing him to bow outward (again caused by the car accident) but he found a bone spur also. The muscle seems to be growing so that is good. He is going to talk to an Orthopedic Vet tomorrow with the xrays to see what he thinks. First thing I said "You are not taking my leg are you?" and he laughed then I thought why did I say My Leg. But he did say no he is not taking My Leg. So more info tomorrow. On my way to pick up Bob. I know he will be glad when he can run again and off the leash. I sure use to enjoy seeing him fly like the wind after squirrels. Sad

Sad i think about bob everyday! I was telling one of my friends about him. She is a vet. You have all of my prayers. I really hope everything works out.

Loosing a leg is NOT ideal, but remember, they alwas adapt and sometimes, they are better off. It doesnt sound that way for you, yet, but there is always good that comes of bad.

He is VERY VERY lucky to be loved by you.

Hi Sara
The only thing I notice is when we take our short walks I can go two blocks down and two blocks up and by then I notice he is panting a lot. We get to the door and he immediately sits after I open the door he lays down panting very heavily. After about 15 minutes he is up and ready. But he was doing this before operation only more so now. So in my opinion he is in a little pain. I really do not want him to have another operation. He has been thru so much pain in his young life. Starting with the abuse. Guess I just have to be patient and wait for the Vet to call me tomorrow.

Well I just got off the phone with the Vet who spoke with the orthopedic. Seems they are concern about bobs hock how it is twisted. They can see it in the xray. I told him that part was twisted before the operation please see the picture

You can see the back leg bowing out in the photo in the back. He wants me to bring Bob back so the Orthopedic can exam him but of course he will have to be put to sleep again. He said he will pay for everything just wants my okay. I don't know what to do. I really do not want Bob to be in anymore pain.

Has Bob been but to sleep a lot? If the vet is going to pay I would say go for it. Does the Orthopedic have something in mind he is going to do when he is examining him. Like a brace or something (just pulling out of the air here). Seems kinda silly to put him under to exam him if they don't have something already in mind. I hope that made sense.

I hope he ends up fine. If he's not in pain and just has a bum leg, then no big deal. I'm sure he can run around pretty well on what he has. Want to get him a sister? lol. J/K!
At least it's not this bad.

The Vet said he has to put him to sleep because he would not stay still when they want to do a complete examination. The back leg was already short before the operation now more so. I was looking at braces and hoping that is all it would take. Will talk to the Vet again today. also in the picture the leg does not look as bad as it does now more turned in.

Oh and I have seen that husky with the bum leg poor thing nope don't need any more. Was wondering if I should have just left the leg alone in the first place.
