That is awesome! Only a true Husky owner (well, maybe all northern breed owners) can look at that monstrous pile of fur and think of that a normal!

That's awesome! I have a neighbour who spins yarn (from sheep) and last summer we joked that we should try spinning Ghost's fur. But we didn't actually try it. Maybe we should. It's great that they can raise money for husky rescue that way.

We actually joked with Aaron's grandmother as well since she spins and weaves yarn. I totally want a Husky sweater!

Seems like a sweater would be itchy. Plus I don't know but I wear enough husky fur everyday I don't think I would to "purposely" wear it. It's a wonderful idea and for a great cause but.... more and more hair to wear...lol

The undercoat is softer than cashmere, and 80% warmer than wool. A sweater would be uncomfortably hot in most circumstances.

I would totally rock the scarf Smile I think it would be a cute to have years down the road when they are no longer with you. That way you always have a little piece of them with you.

I wonder if any of this can get fleas lol

A friend of mine from another forum spun HER friend's mal's sheds and knit her a scarf a year or so ago. I'm pretty sure she had to mix it with another fiber because the undercoat fibers were so short the yarn just pulled apart. She tried it on when she was finished and was amazed at how soft and warm it was. Smile

We have joked we are going to get a doggy sweater made out of Appa hair and give it to his best friend because she gets too cold to stay out and play with him in the winter.

FYI: The place we looked at while jokingly discussing this charges about $120 to have enough yarn made for a scarf.

My mom's friend spins and my mom collects dog hair and llama hair (my parents own two llamas) to send to her. I've been collecting Siku and Elara's hair, but I don't have enough to send off yet. I could probably mix it with the llama hair and make something!

The samoyed booth at the meet the breed at the Eukanuba National had beanie and scarf made out of sammy fur.
