| sorry about that Kelly, i saw you typed kelly but then i looked under the pic and saw chris. you could for sure line a walk way with it and let it take over. i think i only started with 2 in that front bed and now they are all over! you will see plenty of pictures of then when we get hiking as they are all over the mountains here. _________________ |

| No problem, he's on all the time I think I'll take a look next year, I love the idea of just letting them line the walkway. I had day lillies from the previous owners and they were aweful. they were as tall as me by the time they were done growing and they kept falling all over the walk. not to mention the spider webs that sprung up between them overnight (shudder) I bought peach colored zinnias this year for the walk and I dont know how well they will fill it, guess I'll have to wait and see! _________________ Is this about the cake problem? | Love all your flowers and I can't wait to try growing veggies! I'd love to have a raised garden like yours but I have to do some creative building to get it to work on my balcony haha. |

look how small everything was at this time last yr! anywhos the cinquefoil is just about dead this yr and i called Home Depot and they will take the bushes back even though i bought them May13th last yr, those 2 bushes were $33, i wonder if i will try one more time or pick a different bush to put in there... heading there after work. still not sure what to put in that new bed across from this bed.... _________________ |

| Shannon, just looking at this page the front garden has gotten even BIGGER!!! my daises i swear are like 4' tall right now! i need to get ken to take a pic of me standing next to them. i really want to get this raised bed section done but i have had no luck on CL for flagstone with our hot summers i need to do all my planting in june or they dont have a chance to live, i have found that one out the hard way, so my other beds can be prepped but im not sure i can plant till next summer now. _________________ |

| Your summers really get that hot up there? I didn't expect that. I'm currently working on a side bed that got over run by ugly, what I believe to be, creeping bentgrass. Ugh, I wish I could get it out of my side yard without having to kill off a section of lawn, but it's almost pointless when your neighbors have a higher weed than grass ratio. |

| well with how warm we have been all ready this summer, mid 80's to the 90's and we are dry in the summer its really hard to get a plant to get the roots going in the dry heat, or at least thats what i have found.....now if its a 50%off find then i might chance it but with what i just spent on those side bed flowers i would not want to chance them dying. and i so hear you on the neighbors yards! i put in that row of grasses on the one side with a wood edging to keep their weeds from coming into our yard. then the one neighbor on the other side of us is ok on the weed up keep but i still have dandelions pop up in my yard from them. i have vine weed that i need to keep under control and im out there a few times a week walking the grass looking for it growing so i can kill it before it takes over! i really hate grass.... _________________ |

| The new bed looks great! I looooove gallardia. I planted 2 (goblin, so it only gets 12in tall) from lowe's clearance rack last year and just divided the clumps and moved the volunteers on Thursday, to have a total of 6 now! |

| Shannon, still working on getting you a pic of vine weed, i keep pulling it out and the forgetting to get a pic. you can google it and see. fund this guy the other day red hot pokers are doing great, i think next yr they will reach their full size yarrow butterfly bush that looks sick this yr, not sure what is up with it but i dont think it will make it this bud only lasted a few days making woopie day lilies finally bloomed and the front bed with my crazy bloomed daises and my grasses with day lilies in between. i have been out watering just about every day on the gardens that don't get hit by the sprinkler, so far so good with this heat wave we have been having, i hope my weekend away with high 90's and no water they keep kicking _________________ |

| i don't have pictures but i picked my first 3cups of basil last night and made fresh pesto for the first time from a recipe Claudia gave me, put it on my chicken and grilled it. also put some in a pan and heated it up with the tofu noodles, super yummy last night! have leftovers for tonight and now on to my Sat. non hiking project! finishing the left hand side of the front of the house, let me tell you how GOOD it felt to finish this project!!!! only 4yrs in the making Ken had stuff to do so i got him to leave me the truck for the day, went to the stone yard and loaded 660lbs of flagstone all by myself, what a work out, but i got to make sure every stone i picked was in the condition and size i wanted. left for the stone yard at 10:30am laid down the fabric and leveled out the paver sand. so glad all the other prep work was done a few weeks ago, scroll up to see the progress of this spent the rest of the day working on the path, i got super lucky and had 3 stones that were the perfect width to fit on the ends! and with my small pile of scrap i was able to fill in the small holes, i used just about every piece i picked up, talk about luck! i think i finished around 3:30. i kind of forgot about food but made sure i kept drinking as it was 93 degrees out! and the sunscreen, thank god for that. i managed only a few bruises mostly on the tops of my legs from lifting the stone up. ok here it is all done!!! i need to sweep it one more time and do one more pass of the breeze (stuff between the stone) and set it in and sweep again. then its for sure done. im so happy and i love doing this work, its a labor of love. _________________ |
