Craigslist Huskies - Page 11 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Craigslist Huskies   Craigslist Huskies - Page 11 EmptyFri Nov 02, 2012 5:00 pm

I searched craigslist for a husky puppy because I could not find any local breeders. What a mistake. I was livid every time I did a search because every listing was the same story
"I'm having to leave for mission work in ____ and can't take the pups with me.. I am not charging for the pups as long as they go to a good home, please just pay the airfare of $150 via money gram"

I contacted one seller and he tried to rush me into buying the puppy saying things like "if you don't love the puppy tell me but I have him here all ready to ship" but I had a bad feeling and started looking through and the person was making simple grammatical mistakes and saying things like "the Tom is ready for home, I have bathed the Tom and is ready to ship. Tom is lovely puppy"

I then started going back through listings and all of them said things like "lovely husky pups" I think they're overseas scammers using some type of translator service because the sentences don't quite form correctly.

That said, I would never buy a puppy off craigslist. I found a breeder in town, just had to do some searching.

Have you considered checking in your local (or not so local) shelters for one? There are always people who sort of hit the teen-husky stage and cant handle the energy and dump them.
It would at least be something to look into, you would be able to have Koopa meet them and see how they get along and you wouldnt be supporting a Craigslist a**hole or BYB by rescuing.

I'm all for going through a good breeder if you have the chance, just make sure you do a good check on them, so many are sketchy.

Good luck.

Our local shelter doesn't have any, but I did do some research before I got Koopa. My husband and I also got another puppy from the same breeder, but she had parvo when we got her. I contacted the breeder once I was concerned and she took the rest of the litter in. They all had parvo so she was telling me to get ours in. We had already taken her, but she was just too little. The breeder earned a little more of my trust because our vet bill was $800 and she had 3 in there on IV's two days longer than we had KK. The pups are kept in the a/c in a brick building. She things the parvo was brought by a couple who came and held all the puppies after going to other breeders. So when we get our next pup, he or she is going straight to the vet from the breeder! I would go and find one at a shelter, but the breeder is giving us a "replacement pup" since we lost KK.

Did you check Texas Husky Rescue, Husky Haven, or Texas SledDog Rescue? I know they all have pups from time to time.

I would never go back to a breeder whos' pups had parvo, too big a risk in my opinion.

Not sure if I should be relieved or sad that were restricted to 2 dogs where we live. I miss the Malamutes so much.

Oh, he's so cute!
We're restricted to 2 but that didn't stop me Wink The city will approve people in city limits if they have an animal control officer come out and approve the home to be stable for an additional dog. Costs $50 but it's worth it.

we have no restrictions to how many dogs we can own here i don`t believe... Sad But if our home was big enough to put another dog under its roof, I think I would have to import that little guy to Newfoundland Smile loving that mask, and looks like a great pup
