Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Sorry if this has been asked before:

Kirk has been having problems finishing his food for the last month or so. I ended up having to feed him all of his food at once and then he'd just free feed throughout the day and then there was normally about a cup left over at the end of the day. So today I decided to mix it up and add a raw egg, and he went nuts. It's the first time I've seen him eat all of his food in one sitting since I switched him to the puppy chow he's on now (I think he only ate it that fast then cause it was new). Anyway, when I got home, I was so excited to feed him that I totally forgot about his walk. So now he has already eaten all of his dinner and is sitting here lookin like a pot-bellied pig asking for a walk. Do you guys normally have like a 30 min rule like swimming, or should I just take him now?

Awesome, then I'm just gonna take him. I've been taking him on more and more walks lately. If I ever miss one, or I don't take him when he thinks he needs to go, he punishes me. Normally be eating one of my socks. I'm running out of socks, so I better not cross him Laughing

When I walk them before a meal I always wait about 30min or until they've calmed down and they're breathing is back to normal. If I'm walking them after a meal I wait about 20min.

Don't want them puking up their food.

Please be very careful with the socks. You don't want them causing any blockage. We've had a few scares with Kody and socks. Needless to say, I'm the sock patrol now!

I like to leave a 30min gap between food and exercise for Ghost. It's because he's a large dog and so he would be more at risk of bloat.

I just got back from the walk. I gave him roughly 30 minutes before we went. He did great. He swam, he chased squirrels, and then played with another husky for awhile. No puke. I also immediately went and hid all my socks as soon as I read that post.
