| Hello everyone! I just got 4 month old Garrus (SH & Lab Mix) about 2 months ago, and I have to say I have entered a whole new world I never expected! My whole life I have had dogs, but I have to say there is a big difference between the German Shepards, English mastiffs, and labs that I have had before... and this smart, willful new part of our family...often he out stubborns my 3 year old and 18 month old daughters! I have never met a Dog who has so much his own agenda. He Love and dotes on my girls and myself... but nothing is ever about what "the humans" want... I came here hoping for a little help, because although I have always appreciated the SH bread for their beauty and intelligence, I have never had one own me before... I find that I feel out of my depth on some days, and have been inspired by the challenge! Thanks ahead of time for you help, Catza Here are some pics of our little boy

| Welcome Catza and congrats on your new puppy! I would never have guessed by looking at him a Sibe x Lab. Is he a rescue? _________________ |

yeah... found him online at a shelter... drove over 600 miles each way to get him b/c my girls fell in love... and he was set to be killed... no one seems to want mixed pups anymore... We couldn't be happier... but training him is just unbelievable! he just gives me this look that says, "and I should do that why? I'm busy" |

I'm in Easton Nice to find someone in the area! any chance there is a good place to run dog up here? we just moved from Philly about 4 years ago and this is our first dog since we moved... Garrus LOVES to run, and our yard does not seem to be big enough for him to really let loose. took him down to my parents house last week (they have an acre) and he went crazy. I take him for 1 mile runs twice a day, but he is not a big fan of Running while on a leash (or of cars) so it hasn't been working as well as I'd like... He grabs the leash (attached to a belly harness) in his mouth and runs with it in his teeth |

| Jacobsburg Park or there's another park up there but those are trails not really off leash, enclosed areas to let him run.
I don't know of any parks up in Allentown - There's a really nice 2.5 acre Dog park in Bethlehem off of illicks mill road that I take Bella to. Probably a little bit further to go for you than me but I think it's about roughly half way between Easton and Allentown. I love going there and so does Bella! _________________ |

Google Maps shows it at about 18 minutes... not a bad drive... but I don't see in the rules if my kids could come... (18 mon and 3yrs old) any chance you know? |

Wow! Bless your heart for doing SO much for him already! Sounds like he's lucky to have you and your girls are lucky to have him. - kittyvamp1884 wrote:

| I probably wouldn't bring them especially if you have the option to get a baby sitter for an hour or so while you go down there. It's about 15-20 minute drive for me also so it's not bad at all and it's really nice . If you go there now with him you'd have to bring a jug of water as they shut the water off so it doesn't freeze. I don't know the rules for kids but I've never seen a kid under probably 8 there. I do know that my neighbor brings her 6 year old there sometimes but they don't go that often. Maybe during the spring/summer/fall there is more kids - I didn't start going with Bella until she was about 6 months old and that was in the fall when it was cooler out. _________________ |

wow seems like you traveled a way from home! he is pretty small... about 19lbs... and about 13" at the shoulder... he has shot up in size a lot over the last few weeks... but our vet is guessing he will top out at about 45 lbs... |

That would be great! most of my family is split between the Fort Washington area and the Lancaster area now... so it is an hour to visit anyone... Garrus still gets sick in a car if it is going over 35 mph... so it can get interesting... Just let me know more details when you have them and we will se what we can do! |

| Let me know if you ever plan on getting down here to the park and I'll try and get there to meet you with Bella!

Most puppies grow out of car sickness. My husband has a chunk of time off in the beginning of March... We will probably try and make it down during the time he has off so the kids can stay home... We are going to be booked for the first few days... having Our365 come out to do a family picture (cause they are the only ones I could find that would let Garrus be in the photo), Halofest (monthly LAN party we host), my husband's 29th birthday, and Garrus gets fixed on the 8th... I'm used to female dogs... so I'm not sure of the recovery time for him... I'll play it by ear and let you know when I come up with some free time... is this the best place to get a hold of you? |

| You sound busy! lol I'll shoot you a message here in a minute with my number and email.
I won't be available the 10th as that's my mother's birthday and the 13th, 14th and 15th I'll be at UPenn Hospital but other than that I'm pretty much free for right now.
I should be start working with some Siberian breeders around here but I'm thinking that won't be for another at least 2 months. _________________ |
