| I have not been so frustrated in a long time. Took Neo to the dog park today and after about 30 min, a woman brings her yapper in. The stinker attacked the first two dogs that came up to him, and of course Neo goes to investigate . He snapped at Neo and Neo tried to chomp him. Brad wanted to leave, but me being stubborn said we are staying, she can leave. They started playing after that and everything was fine.... well here comes another one. This ladys yapper was already snapping and growling before they even came in the fence. She then proceded to set the damn dog down in the middle of the park! Neo ran up to sniff and the little dog snapped at him and Neo grabbed it up like a stuffed animal. Neo has never acted aggressive before, but I'm not blaming him at all. I Grab Neo and she picks her dog up. This dog is trying to jump out of her arms to get Neo, and Neo proceeds to jump up on the woman to try and get this dog . I calm him down and everything seems fine untill she sets the damn dog down again! It runs to Neo and snaps at him, and Neo pounced on him and treated him like a sqeuky toy. The lady grabbed her dog up again, and its still trying to get Neo, before I could grab him he jumps up on the lady trying to grab the little dog again. AT that point, I was worried about h getting the human and not the dog, so we decided to leave. I told her next time she might not be so lucky. Maybe I have a bad attitude, but I have no problem with my dog taking up for himself and will not get in the way of him defending himself. How could the other owner be so stupid. Did she want her dog to get killed! I mean jeez |

| i would feel the same way you do. Unacceptable dog owner there. Also, yappy dogs irritate me so much. As Kevin Costner said in tombstone, "You want the thunder? Well you got the thunder!" |

| Lol! Like I said, hes never done tat, hes had other dogs do it before and he just puppy played them. This time he actually attacked back. Could it be hes getting older and more sure of himself? Makes me worry about his future behavior towards yappers . |

| People like that expect other dogs - no matter the size - to be as "well-mannered" as she imagines her dog to be. (This is of course assuming that she's one of them ignorant little dog owners whos dog has no training and also doesn't understand dog language).
OR! She expects bigger-ish dogs to not do such things especially to a smaller dog.
Either way - that lady would have gotten a mouthful from me. Probably both women would have. Especially because our dog park has a "small" dog area separate from the "large" dog area. Not only would I have done it for Bella's sake - but for the women's dogs as well - off leash Bella will chase/hunt/kill any small animal. At least on a leash I can prevent it. _________________ |

| I don't think he will act terrible to all yapper dogs, but it's hard to say. Cali can be good one time with a dog, then nasty the next. Good luck with him and hope nothing terrible happens. |

| Blaze so far has only had problems with female st bernards at the dog parks.
Most of the dog parks we have here have a separate one for small yappy dogs..
I guess I would be okay if Blaze got a aggressive with a yappie dog that the owner wasn't taking care of or watching. |

| Jill, That's how sierra acts and it scares the hell out of me cause I don't want to lose her over a dog kill at a park, I warn every small dog about to enter the park to please use the small dog park or let us leave. He may be ok with "well" behaved small dogs next time but it could be the yappers he has issues with. I would have spoke to the lady after her small dog did the first attack and I would have asked her to leave, that lady was asking for it. Sorry you had a bad visit. _________________ |

| Maybe i should contact the city about making a small dog area. The only thing is the dog park was built in the city park by a couple. It was all financed by them. I done know if the city would be willing to fund a area for small dogs. Or how I would go about convincing them it should be done. |

| I don't know the procedure for getting a park built. I know that my city JUST built its own dog park but it's literally maybe a bit bigger than my front yard and that isnt that big - my front yard is about 20'x20. So maybe it's 40x40 but around the inside of the fence is probably a 5 foot wide concrete walkway around the entire inside and then in the middle is a giant concrete little hill thing with a big rock in it. And it is just one fenced in area funded by the city and I think they had a lot of people bugging them about a park - so that's also something to think about.
The park I go to is 2.5 acres total - each of the sides is 1.25 and I -think- it was funded by the city (Bethlehem). If your current park is of a decent size like that you could just ask the city to put up fencing to create a small dog park without much work. Though of your park isnt that big that wouldn't work. _________________ |
