| A seriously stupid question: how often do you guys groom (brush) your fur child? I admit that I'm bad at keeping up with the brushing...so, husky hair is everywhere! I have the pet grooming tool for the Dyson Vacuum and a furminator. I always feel like the furminator is hurting them but, it must not be since they don't complain.
Sincerely,
Bad Husky Mom |

I agree! I really should brush them more often, perhaps that would cut back on the husky hair situation! lol

lol if that's the case I'm a HORRIBLE mom too! My Dalmatian's shed 24/7/365 days a year non-stop and its TERRIBLE! I had to have hardwood floors put it the house, so it's easier to clean! We have to sweep at minimum twice a day and mop the floors a few times a day. I haven't had the joy of experimenting with the Husky blow yet! lol ... I have the furminator and it does work well, but I too am lazy with it, so don't feel bad

I brush Rocky about once a week too, but he's still a puppy so he doesn't really shed THAT much, but I do have to sweep the areas he's been in just in case (my dad's girlfriend isn't Rocky's biggest fan, she's pretty anal about clean houses, etc) He's not big on me brushing him either, I don't use a specific brand just one of those metal combs that has different length bristles (it came in a grooming kit I bought from tjmaxx lol) so I just focus on the spots where he sheds the most, his tail, his chest, and near his neck.

I brushed Neo back in the summer when he was blowing, thats it. I must be a really bad mom! We are not currently having an issue with hair thank goodness.

Heh, I brush about three times a year because I won't pick up the hair and Lindsay doesn't like that. So far I've been meaning to brush dogs since the end of January. Vacuuming daily (sometimes twice in one room) is easier. Plus they get that awesome 'wild' look when the clumps start hanging off.

I usually only brush them when they are blowing coat! lol. And of course before shows with Elara. I sometimes brush them after I give them baths which is anywhere from every week to every month (always after our monthly trip to the dog park with a pond. They just smell like yucky pond water after they swim.). _________________ -Sara

Haha that's true. I brush Ghost daily when he is shedding, and the rest of the time not very much at all because he doesn't really need it. I have to brush our other dog once or twice a week all year round because his fur is quite long, so sometimes I brush Ghost as well just because otherwise he looks like he is jealous from missing out on grooming! |

I brush at least daily during a coat blow, but in between I have been extremely lax! Sometimes I brush him once a week. I did try to run a brush through his fur for training purposes when he was a puppy.

I usually brush Indy several times a week. And right now he's starting to blow his coat so he is seriously exploding with fur! I'm about to give him a bath and blow all of the loose fur out I have to vacuum and sweep several times a day now because it's everywhere! Even floating around the top of the pool!

when i first got River i brushed him daily but once i started giving him raw eggs with his dinner, His coat has gotten so shinny and i barely have to do anything, but he does also have a thinner shorter coat. i also have ther furminator and he hates it!

I use a metal flea comb once a week, or once every two weeks; and a shedding rake or furminator when blowing coat. I try and use the furminator sparingly since I was noticing that it was cutting Kale's guard hairs down.

Between an undercoat rake/blade combo brush, slicker, and fancy shed monster, we brush Appa about once a day to every other day during non-coat blow season, and at least once a day during the "big-blow." We still have hair everywhere, but he sure looks handsome. We always tell him it's for the ladies, he doesn't buy it.

HA! Discovering the joys of the puppy coat vs. adult coats myself here....wow if they retained the smoother puppy coats...that would be awwwwwwesome. We have the purple Dyson animal vacuum...so I vacuum all day long it seems now that we foster once in awhile. The boy we are fostering now is a shedding monster. We brush him all the time. Guess it depends on how much fur you want all over your house.

I'm going to shoot for every other day or so. Between Jake and my lab/golden I would otherwise lose my mind with all of the hair
