I'm late to read this and haven't been around this forum enough to say I know you but from reading what everyone has said I can only imagine how much you cared and loved Seamus. The fact that it took you 6 months to find him his perfect home shows it was not an easy nor light decision for you, and that you took the time to find him the right home. Don't worry about your family being hard on you at first; my guess is that they missed him and took it out on you. Maybe when they see how well he's doing they'll realize you had nothing but his best interests in mind. And the update sounds great, I'm happy for you and him both! Smile

Saw Seamus yesterday with Megan at the pet expo, she was there with her rabbit rescue. She came over within 15 minutes of me arriving and gave me a big hug and so did Seamus lol We spent the rest of the day popping into each others booths. She said Seamus was drawing people over to her rabbit booth which was good, she had a few with her.

About 3/4 of the way through I walked over and she handed me Seamus and asked if I could take him outside to potty with mine. We happily walked outside and went potty with the Huskies. It's so awesome the relationship I have with her and Seamus! I really couldn't have asked for anything better! We came back after about 10 minutes and she was gone and her kids and husband were there. We all said hi and I got some hugs from the kids. Seamus really doesn't mind the whole situation... He's always so happy to see me but he it's like he didn't lose a family... his family just grew!

Megan contacted me a few weeks ago about him leaking urine at night, and then just last night sent me a message about how it was a major urinary tract infection. She said he had another urinalysis done and they found crystals. So they're going to do x-rays to see if he has stones...

I seem to remember Toris Haley going through this (I think) and it could be related to food, right? Ugh. I feel bad Sad I said i'd do some research for her.

Aww poor Seamus. Don't feel bad though. It's not your fault. Every dog is going to have some issues here and there.

Definitely suggest a cranberry supplement to them! That always helps Kitty, who suffers from mild incontinence and use to get frequent UTIs with crystals.

Does the cranberry help with the incontinence? Odin dribbles at night when he sleeps...

If the incontinence is due to his urinary tract infection, then yes the cranberry could help. Cranberry can help lower urine pH, reduces the formation of crystals, and can soothe irritated tissues. If he ends up with permanent incontinence, the medication we use for Kitty is from Only Natural Pet Store, and is called Canine Bladder Control. This supplement has soy isoflavones which help build and maintain bladder muscle tone. This controls Kitty's incontinence very well. She was having similar issues, dribbling while sleeping, or right after she went pee.
There are prescription options for incontinence, one of those is phenylpropanolamine, usually under the brand name Proin. The dog I had growing up suffered from severe incontinence, and this drug did wonders for her. Kitty is just not at the point where I want to try prescription stuff.

Seamus will be joining us July 26- August 5th while Megan and the family visit KY to see her hubby's family!

I can't say how amazing the relationship I have with them is! I could NOT have asked for a better family!

I love you
