| If you're looking at the Palisades pack, I just put the medium on my boy Storm (check his measurements early on in this thread), and he fits it nicely and he still has a little room to loosen it up a tad if needed. It also fits Ginger a little on the loose side if we have it on the smallest adjustment. _________________ |

| Maybe the 2 items you get are the Palisades pack and the Singletrak pack! _________________ |

Given that Brewer weighs in at 51.5lbs (I figure he will max out at 55lbs, I think going with the small will be the right choice...and in line with RuffWear's sizing recommendations. The Singletrak would be a nice addition, but I have leads, leashes, collars, and harnesses to buy! Guess I won't be buying any new clothes for the spring / summer Note to self - I need to figure out how to use the mult-quote function on this site

You click the "Multi-Quote" button on the posts you want and it will turn slightly red. Then go to the bottom of the page and click "Post Reply". Then the box that pops up on the page should have all the selected quotes. |

your losing 3 liters of room by going with the small..... most of us here use the med. sz for our huskies. jack has a med. and he is about 56lbs it fits him perfect _________________ |

| Unless you have an extra tiny husky I'd recommend the Medium as well.
I can't say enough good things about the Palisades pack, but I am looking forward to the new version coming out in April. (speaking of, I'm going to have my medium up for sale at the time). |

Just keep in mind you'll be adding 4 lbs of water to the packs alone on a full bladders. _________________ |

| Here's what the medium Palisades Pack looks like on my 74 lb husky. I think I like this size for Storm better as the large packs seem a little too big for him now. _________________ |

| Claudia, do you mind giving us some measurements of Storm? Height to the withers, back/length, girth? Just so I can compare to the appadog. |

Height = 26" Length/Back = 25" Girth = 31" _________________ |

| Pretty sure I will be ordering a few things from BCK9 this weekend. The Palisades pack is definitely at the top of the list, and I am thinking that a medium will work just fine. Plus I'd hate to lose so much storage space, in order to have a slightly better fit.
Brewer's approx measurements as of today:
Height at front shoulder - 24" Length (center of shoulder blades to base of tail) - 24" Girth -27"

I think you should compare the amount of room between the medium and the small packs if you can find it in a store. If Brewer is going to weigh about 50-55 lbs, 20% of his body weight is 10-11lbs. The water bladders itself with the pack is already 5 lbs. Not sure what else you want him to pack, but I preferably don't like weighing the dogs down too much, especially on an advanced trail. For my preference, the medium pack is too baggy for Ginger and she's about 22" tall, about 50 lbs. This is why I'm handing the medium to Storm. He can fit the large pack, but the packs are so big, that I think it's much easier for them if the packs fit closer to their body. Anyway, that's just my preference... _________________ |

Anyway, that's just my preference... You really are making this difficult Claudia Small chance the local REI may have one. |

| With our pup he carries his water, poop bags, food bowl, his food, and the first aid kit... and sometimes my car keys (probably not the safest idea, but at least I won't ever leave him behind!). The first aid kid is kinda bulky, but not heavy.
I'd recommend going with the medium. If you do any winter stuff with your pup having him carry gloves could be quite useful, again, not heavy, but bulky. |

I only use x-back harnesses during the winter as the pups are already working hard enough as we tend to end up off the beaten path and breaking trail. So they are already working hard, so I don't even put a pack on them. Like I said, it's my personal preference. I personally do not like wearing a pack that is 'baggy' so I always make sure my pack is cinched down against my back. It distributes the weight better, so that's what I think of how the dog packs might feel on them if it has a lower profile against their body - hence, the medium for Storm is my personal preference. I hope your local REI carries it for you to see. I think if I checked the physical size of the packs before I bought it according to chart size, I would have bought the small for Ginger. The medium may not be so 'baggy' on Brewer since he stands a couple of inches taller than Ginger. _________________ |

| Just for fun, Appa is 26" length, 27.5" height, 33" girth. 76lbs last we checked, but he seems bigger since then. |
