Met a "dog" owner today-- personal vent Empty
PostSubject: Met a "dog" owner today-- personal vent   Met a "dog" owner today-- personal vent EmptyFri Jan 13, 2012 9:26 pm

I was out and about today talking with people at the store and a lady said I spoil my dog. We were talking about how Cali, my foster husky, has a blanket in her crate, a blanket on the hard wood floors....found out her dog sits in a crate in the garage and only gets let out to go outside. Then we got talking about "exercise/play" times. I take Cali out for a walk 3 times a day that is usually 1 mile each and some up to 2 miles. In addition to that I take her out for potty breaks. Her Mastiff gets out to use the "facilities" and then run around a little bit each day, her yard is decent, about .3 acres that is fenced but only so much a mini horse can do out there. Needless to say I bet my spoiled dog acts alot better than hers does. Right now Cali went and put herself in her crate and closed the door....she is suuuuch a great dog, more she stays the more I will push to keep her around.

Thanks for the allowing to vent here about the run in.

If a person is going to keep their dog in a crate in the garage so much, why even have one? There's my 2 cents worth. My dogs live WITH me. I don't blame you. I would have been mad too.

I agree, I told her if you can't give your dog room in your house, please find the dog a home where she can. I know its large breed, BUT we choose the dogs we go with, they don't pick us. Dogs are family, they have a doctor, "groceries to buy"...with an investment like that, a crate is just not fair...oh well..not my dog cause I have a pet/friend instead of just a dog...so sad sometimes

I agree completely... If I can find room for 2 huskies in my home, then she ought to be able to find room for a mastiff.

I agree there also, the saddest part is--- she has 2 dachsunds (misspelled) that are inside dogs... kinda like a hypocrit to me..why not treat all dogs the same

Oh I know a person like that. She kept her golden in a crate outside for 7 years! In hot FL might I add.

But, oh no! Sounds like we might have a foster fail! lol. It's so hard to let them go! But it would be awesome if you kept her.

Oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh that sort of thing brings out my horns!!!

Speaking of daschunds...my neighbor has TWO. And they are NEVER on a leash. Everytime I drive by, they run after my car. Everytime I walk by, they run after me and the pups. And EVERYtime she runs out, looks at me like, "how dare you pass my house?!" and scoops them up. Last time I told her, if I run over one of her dogs next time, I won't feel bad!

Oh yeah, after I fix the previous humans issues he let her do and has became one heck of a dog. The newest thing of putting herself in the crate AND closing the door is AWESOME and hiliarous. Boils down to my landlord. I will keep her around, but when he comes back from his vacation I will have to move her to the garage and maybe bring her inside only once in a while. He is only picky about the hair everywhere. I am working with about allowing me keep her in one room and just hang out in it all the time. Only need to move tv there. When winter leaves indiana, I hope to start working on a dog run for her, 34' x 17' minus alittle bit due to curved rock wall on the back patio. A foster fail would only be a rehome success!

I was talking to a friend where I used to live about if you were to hit a dog what would happen. He informed the law there was that all dogs are to be on a leash, and when the dog owner would sue the person who hit the dog, the case gets through out. All depends on local laws, but that is the fault of the human who was to be taking care of the dog, not the driver of the car.

In my neighborhood I know the majority of people have dogs, I can hear them barking indoors as we walk by, but I never see them out for a walk and rarely see them outside. Makes me really sad to know that some dogs never get to leave the house.

I'm so sick of off leash dogs! I now carry pepper spray with me on all our walks. Take that little psycho dogs!
