| Hey guys, Sorry if this has been address elsewhere, all I could find was something..kinda similar? So anyway, its Halloween and we're carving our pumpkins tomorrow. (Put it off far too long. My bad.) And I know that its been said many times over to stuff our puppies kongs with Pumpkin Pie filling. What about just plain pumpkin guts? Can he have that, frozen, in his kong? What about the seeds? Thanks. I've got a super big pumpkin to card out the innards of, I'd like to think Aevyn could get some enjoyment out of this. |

| Bake the seeds for yourself! Mix 1.5 tbsp olive oil, 1.5 tsp salt, spread single layer on a cookie sheet, cook in the oven at 250* for 1hr and flip the seeds a couple of times while cooking. Or you can use cinnamon and sugar instead of salt. _________________ -Sara

| Seeds are delicious!
But actually you're not supposed to use "pie filling" for the kongs- just plain pure Pumpkin. Pie filling has way too much sugar and other additives. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | I've never done the baked seeds before either - I'm starting to think maybe I've lived a sheltered life. We'll give that one a go this year, I guess.
Good to know he can have the cutouts at least, I guess. He's so interested in the pumpkins, he's gotta have at least something from it.
From the links I'm guessing maybe only a small amount in his kong would be a good idea? |

| I LOVE roasted pumpkin seeds. I think the way to make them is to put them in a mixing bowl and stir them around with a little grapeseed oil or melted butter and salt (you can also add cayenne pepper or garlic salt, if you want). Then spread them on a cookie sheet and bake at 300 for about 45 minutes, stirring them occasionally, until they're golden-brown.
As for the guts, there's always pumpkin pie. I'm sorry to say, however, that I've never attempted to make it for myself, due to space and time issues. What I usually do is put the innards out in the yard for squirrels and birds. |
