| Hi,
I'm a new owner of a male Siberian husky puppy, and wanted to get peoples opinion on feeding puppies THK or Grandma Lucy's to their puppies over kibble. I know THK has 3 brands that can be fed to puppies (LOVE, EMBARK, and THRIVE) and that Grandma Lucy's says it's all life stages.
Has anyone tried either of these brands with their puppies? Any recommendations on flavors to try or ones that are better than others?
Thanks again for any input/feedback

| Hi, Andrew! Welcome to the forum Many of these topics have already been discussed. If you look through the Nutrition and Feeding forum (where you posted your question) you'll find a lot of threads started about them Here are a few to check out: Thoghts on Grandma Lucy'sThe Honest KitchenWhat are you feeding your husky?Considering a Raw DietThere is also a sub-forum dedicated solely to feeding raw. Please take a read and feel free to post any lingering questions that you might have in any of those threads, or start a new one if your question is not related to any of those topics _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Hey Andrew, welcome!
I can't really speak to THK and Grandma Lucy's, but we have had great luck with Blue Wilderness puppy formula. Our girl had really bad diarrhea when she came to us and we tried a couple other grain inclusive foods (Innova being one), and those never helped. Taste of the Wild just introduced a puppy specific formula as well, and they are as good as Wilderness but somewhat cheaper. I'm actually kicking around the idea of switching over to TOTW now that they have the puppy formula.
Those are all great threads that Tori shared with you, and there are a few other members who have experience with THK and Grandma Lucy's as well. Good luck! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Kody also came to us with with really bad tummy issues when we first got him at 12weeks. We finally learned about THK through this forum, started him on Embark, and he did great! |

| Hi Andrew, I'm sure you'll find my thoughts on both THK and Grandma Lucy's in the threads Tori shared. But I wanted to chime in real quick and say that I think both are excellent food choices and while I don't personally know anyone that's fed GL to a puppy, I know lots of people who've fed their puppies THK with great results. After having fed both for an extended period, I can honestly say I much prefer Grandma Lucy's for several reasons (those reasons have been posted in another thread I believe). However I am a strong advocate of variety and rotation diets so I rotate regularly between the two. _________________ |

| Thanks Val,
I've decided to go with Grandma Lucy's.... now I am trying to decide which meat to go with. Any suggestions? I'm leaning toward Pork because of its high protein (39%) and fat content (15%). Or the Venison: 28% & 14%
Thanks again for everyone's input and help =) |

| All the protein sources are good so it's really a matter of personal preference, what agrees with your pup, and budget. So far I've only fed Grandma Lucy's Artisan Pork and Chicken formulas and I've had excellent results with both. I am positive my sibe will do fantastic on the Lamb, Venison, and Rabbit formulas. I tend to stay away from beef because my sibe does not tolerate processed beef whether in kibble, canned, or dehydrated form. The only beef my sibe tolerates is raw, THK's beef formula did not sit well with my sibe so I am not even going to try Grandma Lucy's beef formula. Regardless of what choice you make for protein source, I believe in rotation so I regularly switch protein sources each time I open a new bag. _________________ |
