I'm sorry, you all may think this is a stupid quesiton but is true or not true that male siberian huskies blow thier coat once a year where females blow thier coat twice a year???? I know I read this in the breed book I bought 12 years ago and since Dakota has only every had one coat blow a year, I never questioned this. BUT, I have read on here some threads of male dogs that have two coat blows a year. So to say the least, I am confused.... Someone posted a link on pros and cons of the siberian husky on a breeder website and it states Males once a year and females twice a year. So, I just gotta ask..... is it just dependent on the dog, and if so, shouldn't it say "some" males blow their coat once a year? What are your thoughts and experience with this?

I have no idea since Kody is my first boy and he's only a year old. Blew his first coat (or at least I think he did) about 2 months ago. Mya on the other hand blows coat 2-3 times a year. Then again we're in HOT miami! lol

Never heard that before. But males do blow coat twice a year. My boy blows coat twice a year minimum, more than that in hot climates even. I'd say it depends on the individual and climate. _________________

Embry has the smallest coat blow ever, he actually never blowed his coat until Zoey did the first time, really strange. and hers is never ending.

| Dakota's usually starts blowing his coat towards the end of May, sometimes not until June if it stays cooler longer. He takes a minimum of a month. So no one else on here has a male that blows his coat once a year??? Willow has a much sleeker coat and she was way easy and faster than Dakota. She started her first coat blow not long after Dakota and hasn't started her 2nd yet. I'll give you the link to the breeder's website that makes this statement. I know it doesn't make it fact, but my own experience is once a year with Dakota. I will also try to dig up the book I bought so long ago..... I have it here somewhere.
