| Hi I just joined the forum to learn more about Huskies. I rescued a 8 month old husky who was abused. After he was hit by a car they put him in one of those carrying crates you take on the plane and left him in the hot summer sun here in FL and took off on vacation. Luckily the humane society got to him in time and saved him (he was only 17 lbs), however he was on the brink of being euthanized when the rescue heroines saved his life. According to the vet he does have a fractured hip but does not want to operate as he seems to be in no pain. I had another dog Samoyed named Frosty. Frosty had cancer and only a short time left. I did not think I was ready for another dog but my gut feeling kept pushing me to get another one. I looked at huskies and fell in love with them. I was contacted by one of the rescues regarding needing to place Bob immediately as he was temporiarily at a foster home. Well His name was Bob and I decided to keep it Bob as he already answers to that name. he is smart as a whip and very clingy (now if I can just stop him from puppy biting me) Here are a couple pictures of him. Frosty passed shortly after Bob came home and I do miss him terribly but Bob does keep me busy enough to help with the grief. I am going to post pictures of Frosty and bob. Boy do I have a lot to learn. I do not know how to post photos but hope this works. You can see below where Bob's leg bows out. |

| Welcome to the forum, and thank you for rescuing Bob. He's gorgeous So sorry to hear about Frosty though. Where in Florida are you? We are up near Pensacola and there are a bunch of members here from south Florida. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Welcome! So sorry to hear of Frosty's passing, rip little one. Kudos to you for adopting Bob, sounds lucky to be alive and I'm glad you found it in your heart to open up your home to him. So sad that he's faced so much bad so early in life. _________________ |

| Sorry to hear about Frosty, we have our own little Frosti (girl) - our condolences. And congrats on Bob - he's gorgeous. I think that Bob came to you at just the right time, helping you through his older brother's passing. Life works in mysterious ways. |

| Hi Again I live in Oviedo FL, 6 miles from Orlando near UCF College. Been here for 15 years. Frosty was 10 years old when he was diagnosed with TCC in December. Near the end I gave him anything he wanted to eat and took him off the cancer meds as they were causing ulcers in his stomach.
Regarding Bob's leg (and I have to chuckle too when I say his name) I don't know what will happen the vet put him on meds OTERO I think that is the spelling, with MSM for his bones. When he walks the leg bows out and in but when he runs you hardly notice it. I have to take him back to the vet next week for a recheck hope its alright. you can see in one of the photos where he is coming towards you the back leg on the right side is crooked. Thanks again for the welcome I know I will love it here. Shirl |

I'm not too far from you in Deltona, but you might find some people closer to you on CFLSnowdogs. We meet up at different dog parks almost every weekend. Anywhere from Deland to Sanford to Orlando and sometimes Winter Springs. _________________ -Sara |

| Hi there - I'm new to the forum, too, and new to Siberian Huskies. I also rescued mine; in fact, just a week ago. He'll be five months old tomorrow. I have a lot to learn as well, and my boy is quite the adorable handful at the moment. So sorry to hear about Bob's abuse; Winter seems to have been ignored, and probably yelled at at least a bit, but not physically abused. And I'm terribly sorry about Frosty. When I lost my Great Pyrenees (who was also named Winter - there's a weird story there - the shelter renamed the husky puppy "Winter"), I was devastated. Looking forward to comparing notes on shelter dogs, especially the puppy biting. |

| Hello and welcome to the forum!
My sympathies regarding your baby Frosty. It's always difficult when you lose a fur-child. ;_;
The new addition to your family, Bob, will bring you much comfort and joy... so congratulations! Enjoy and love him unconditionally; Siberian Huskies are truly amazing companions.
Regarding the puppy biting, there are a few threads in the Training section of this forum that touch upon that issue. If they don't help or you have any other questions, ask away! |
