| Is his surgery in the morning? Hoping to have some good news updates by the afternoon tomorrow. I go to the doctor tomorrow too (OB), I feel for you Storm! Here's hoping we both have good news at the end of the day! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow Storm. Wishing you a speedy recovery too. _________________ |

We're dropping him off around 8am, and I would think it would be a relatively quick procedure. I'll post an update as soon as I get any info on how he's doing or what the tests show on the lump. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow too, Val! _________________ |

| Dropped Storm off....and he's 87.7 lbs! YeeHaw!
Prep for surgery is going to take longer than the procedure itself. They're thinking shortly after the lunch hour he'll be waking up.
When talking to Dr. Miller this morning, I asked if she'll be sending the mass off to pathology for testing. In all 13 years of being a vet, she's seen 2 that needed to be sent off to pathology. Since the pathology test will cost $165, she feels that unless it not all fatty tissue, there's no need to send it off. So I was given the option. I trust Dr. M's judgement and opted out of pathology tests.

| no, she'll toss it. she'll be able to tell once he removes the mass if it's something we'll need to be concerned about now or in the future or if she will want to send it off to pathology. but since she's already taken a look at it when she aspirated it a couple of months ago, she's pretty confident that we caught it really early that it'll be done and over with after this.

| Just got a call from Dr. M. Storm is awake but still a little groggy and all went well. The lump was fatty tissue so she just tossed it out and is not worried to send it off to pathology. He'll be able to walk home (.75 miles from the vet to home) just fine anytime after 2pm. _________________ |

| So glad to hear it was all fatty tissue! | We just picked him up, and he's doing well! Dr. M cut the mass to make sure it wasn't abnormal in the middle and it's all fatty tissue. Storm even make the 3/4 mile walk home. He's still a little woozy and he's not bothering the incision for now but we'll put a t-shirt on him tonight just in case. When he woke up, he even managed to lift the latch on his kennel door and visited the staff in the office!
Cost was even a lot less than anticipated! (yay!) _________________ |
