| So, I think I am going to name her Azula(ah-zoo-la). Riley will appreciate this. Hopefully hubby approves in the AM! |

| Remind me to give you my training pads! We bought some in the beginning for Ginger and only ended up using a few out of the big bag. _________________ |

| Wow she's really adorable, congratulations on the new addition to your family!
You said you were debating Blue Buffalo Longevity. Have you thought about their Wilderness formula? Higher protein and grain-free. You said she was thin-ish, might help with the weight issue. |

| Wilderness is the way to go, for sure!!! I've had all my dogs that I own and those that I mush on it, and they all do really well. Even Volya has been on it since he was 10 weeks old. |

| Kim and Hillary, Wilderness is an adult food only so I couldn't do that. However I did get the Basics (Salmon) formula by Blue since it's all life stages. Hoping she will thicken out, have a nice coat, and stop being itching and getting crusties soon! When she is old enough I will switch her to THK. The only formula appropriate for her is the chicken, and I don't like using chicken at my protein source as unless it's fresh boiled chicken Koda always got itchy from it.
I gave her her first bath today- I got the Earthbath Oatmeal & Aloe. Her coat felt better just from that. Also dremmeled her nails since she likes to cling onto your shoulder when you hold her, lol. She was a good girl. She's currently asleep. She sleeps so much for a pup! |

I gather that it's a very recent addition, but they do have a puppy food. I found it at the local Petsmart and Ghost has been doing wonderfully on it. The potential downside is that they only offer a chicken based formula. http://bluebuffalo.com/dog-food/wilderness-puppy Good luck! |

| Wow, thanks for posting that Meredith! I guess they do have a new addition! There never used to be a Wilderness puppy formula so this is news to me too! Upon further investigation, Wilderness has a bunch of new formulas out! They haven't hit our local stores yet, I'm always shopping for my dogs and I've never come across any of these new formulas. _________________ |

| Yep. PetSmart has been carrying it for awhile now actually. They also carry a small breed and weight management formula. I had Drogo on it at the beginning (actually was a mix between the puppy and adult salmon) and he did great. Made a huge difference in his coat; he came to me on pedigree puppy. I was horrified, lol.
Wilderness is also putting out some pretty good treats. They are the only grain-free treats Blue makes to my knowledge. You should see them hit your local PetSmart shelves within a couple weeks. Just FYI! |

| Our Petsmarts in and around Charleston haven't started carrying it yet, well not as of 2 weeks ago when I last shopped there. _________________ |

| Val, the PetSmart on Rittenberg Blvd. carries it for sure. Is that the one you shop at?
And those are such adorable pictures. I want her! Oh, I almost forgot to mention: is that a Siberian Husky plushie she's chewing on? lol!

| Sometimes, I was there a month ago and don't recall seeing new Blue Buffalo formulas. The most recent store I went to was the Azalea Square location two weeks ago. I go to Sam Rittenburg once a month but I skipped my trip this month. _________________ |

| Heather,
I realize that Wilderness is an adult only food BUT here's the catch. I had one of Blue's puppy formulas when I first brought Volya home. He wasn't eating it, though, and was always going for Danika's food for some reason (which was the Wilderness).
So, I compared the analyses on the back and found that they were the same percentages of everything, and the ingredients list was almost the same, except the puppy formula didn't have the life source bits that the Wilderness formula has. I took copies of the info from both bags to my vet, asked her if I could just go ahead and feed him the Wilderness formula, and she gave the green light. He's been on it since he was 11 weeks old, is as strong as a bull, healthy as can be and good to go (I elected to have office visit, xrays and ultrasound done on him about 6 weeks ago to make sure he was okay to walk the full 20 miles with Danika and me and to make sure he was developing okay, didn't have any issued or foreign bodies or anything --I'm paranoid after Boris -- not only did the vet sign him off with flying colors, but she also said he was the strongest, most developed husky pup for his age she had ever seen). He's also by far the fastest dog in the dog park, except for Danika who only maintains about a 1/2 body length faster than him already (she wasn't raised on Wilderness until I brought her home in March). I attribute Volya's strength, endurance, and development putting him on Wilderness early.
SInce the vet gave me the go ahead for him, I also put the pups at the 2 kennels I mush for on Wilderness, as well as the adults on my team. All are doing well.
Moral of the story: Don't be sucked in by marketing ploys. A perusal of the ingredients and guaranteed analysis will reveal it's very close to the same thing. For whatever reason, there was just something about Wilderness that Volya preferred over Blue's large breed puppy formula and I'm glad he did ... |

| Hillary, Heather is very well educated on foods and pet nutrition, and is the last person you'll ever find falling for ridiculous company marketing I can assure you. What Blue Buffalo puppy formula were you comparing to the Wilderness formula? I just looked at Blue Wilderness Puppy and Wilderness Chicken (adult) and I would definitely choose the puppy formula over the adult formula and they are not identical. For starters the puppy formula has more meat in it, a higher fat percentage, and a higher protein percentage...all of which I would chose for a growing puppy. Yes, you can feed an adult food to a puppy and they can grow just fine. That can even go for adult foods that have inappropriate levels for a puppy. Can you do it? Yes. Will your dog be fine with it? Depends. Evo is one of those foods that is an all life stages labeled food it is really best suited for adult dogs. So for example, does that mean a puppy will not grow right if they eat Evo? Absolutely not and Heather is well aware of that. _________________ |
