| So, a couple is moving to a different base and just got a husky(guessing they realized a husky pup and moving across country don't mix). She is now 10 weeks. She is chocolate red and white, cute little girl. Someone in Jarod's unit who knows we have one told him about the couple and we found their CL posting. I texted and e-mailed them 3 hours ago and am hoping to hear from them tomorrow. I told them we were interested and to let us know what their rehoming fee is, tell us about her, and arrange a meet up. If the rehoming fee is not out of this work and she is a good girl, we're going to take her- hopefully they will respond tomorrow early in the day. Unexpected, but I am very excited to see how this turns out. However, if they end up saying "I want a $800 rehoming fee" blah blah blah, forget it. I have a top price I'm willing to compensate them for their original purchase and won't go higher. Since she is only 10 weeks, she will require shots and a spay still. I get it sucks paying money for a dog and then selling it for cheap, but I'm doing the favor here in my opinion. Anyways, wish me luck. I really want to add another one to our family- both Koda and I need another dog around. Here is the pic I have of her: If we got her I think I'd want to call her Rowan or Rowlyn. |

| Ooooh, how exciting! Keep us posted, Heather! You must be a glutton for punishment with your reduced mobility at the moment and wanting to add a 10 week old puppy to the mix at the same time! I can't wait to hear how this all turns out! _________________ |

| Ok, who would get a puppy right before a PCS? Really?
Heather, I hope you guys get her. | No, it wasn't "right before"- they got her a week ago and then got their new orders about 2 days ago. They will be going overseas and it's just too much with the quarantine and everything- wouldn't be fair to her. They were REALLY nice people. Jarod and I felt horrible taking her. They had the sweetest 2-3 year old girl and I cried when she realized the dog wasn't coming back. We did pay a normal puppy price for her since she was just bought- we got her toys, crate, bowls, papers- she needs her DHPP next week and then after that her rabies. We really liked the family though and will be keeping in touch. We've had her with us for about 3 hours now. She is really a good girl! No accidents and isn't chewing on anything she shouldn't. Koda is dealing with her fine. He wants to play and she gets a little scared once he gets really loud or close, but she is only 9lbs so it's understandable. Only issue we will end up having is a toy one- he keeps wanting to steal them from her and when she has one, she gets intimidated by him when he comes near and tells him to eff off lol. All harmless though. We are putting up toys for right now unless Koda is on the balcony or the little one is in her crate. Her coat is really dull and no luster- the vet told them to feed Royal Canine. I will be transitioning starting tomorrow. Not sure if I will do a dehydrated raw with her or go for a puppy kibble. We are still figuring out a name from her- all I know is it has to be from a video game or comic They didn't even wait because they liked us so much and she took to Koda so well. It was hard taking her from them though, you could tell they did love her. My ankle hurts BAD as I've been so active today and didn't bring crutches! Worth it though.. just took my meds and we're gonna chill lol. Pics- |

| I'm so glad you got her! That sounds like a really crappy situation for them. Nothing like surprise PCS orders overseas. I PCS'd a month ago and didn't get my orders until 6 weeks out, but I at least had been told where and when to expect on the move earlier this year. Thank you budget crisis... Take it easy on the ankle and enjoy those pain meds You guys stationed at Luke? _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Thanks everyone! She had her first accident, but it's my fault as I didn't take her down that hour and I'm not familiar with her poo schedule yet... she went "twice" right after another, same spot, in the kitchen, so I am thinking if I put potty pads there all will be well. She does have a bit of a guarding issue but she is for the most part just vocal about it. I'm going to give her time to get use to Koda before I bring toys out in the open. She is a good girl about her crate. She was a little upset at first, but after 3 minutes, went to sleep. Koda was laying right next to her crate, not sure if he was taunting her or worried about her. We are having an AWFUL time naming her. Jarod is being so damn picky, I want to kill him. Trying to figure out what we will do foodwise too. Her coat seriously is so bad. I am debating THK (though I don't like feeding the chicken formulas and that is the one they recommend for puppies... when I had Koda I wasn't educated on food the first few months and then I went raw) or trying Blue Buffalo Longevity for Puppies. She is also a little slim. The food the vet gave her was the infant puppy Royal Canine formula, and then the Large Breed Puppy. They said to give her 1/4 of each food 2x a day. That definitely is not enough food if I remember correctly. She is not emaciated or anything, just needs some puppy fat.. give me 2 weeks and she'll be chubby and have soft fur We have a marriage retreat Wednes, Thurs, and Fri (not sure if we stay Fri night though) and I want to die thinking of her not being with us. I'm considering sneaking her with us, not gonna lie, depending on how long the 'classes' are(I figured I could rush her crate in collapsed in a backdoor, and carry her suffocated in a blanket and run to my room).. she is too young to board and I could probably find someone on base to babysit her, but even though she is pretty good about potty time and fine crated I don't want anyone to stress if she makes a mess. Worst timing ever with my leg and the retreat, but you know when things are suppose to happen. Jarod said we can't cancel on the retreat now or else I would! Forget the retreat, I just want to be at home with my pups! Going to go and do some shopping for her this weekend. She has a nice red Lupine leash and harness, figure I will keep her in those since she likes to gnaw a bit plus she will be huge in no time. I need to get her a collar, new food, puppy pads, some of her own chews and things of the sort though. We love her already though. She is a good little girl. |
