2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.

Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! Raw for Drogo and Navi - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Raw for Drogo and Navi   Raw for Drogo and Navi - Page 2 EmptyMon Nov 28, 2011 3:50 pm

So, we pretty much decided right off the bat to switch Navi over to raw, providing she'd take to it. We were somewhat nervous that she wouldn't like it, considering she's 2.5 years old and has been eating Eukanuba Performance her entire life.

Great news, she LOVES IT! We couldn't be happier. She's actually a pro at eating it, I only wish Drogo would chew his quarters like she does. We couldn't believe how HUGE her bowel movements were when we first brought her home. YIKES! I had forgotten what the stool of a kibble fed dog looked like. Now they are small and compact. Next time we feed, I'll have to take video of them. Navi prances around and literally twirls and becomes air-borne she's so excited. I wonder if she acted that way on kibble? Wink

I do have a question about Drogo though. He's gotten really bad about chewing his food. He literally inhales 2 quarters in probably 30 seconds. He never used to be this bad. I've gone back to holding it for him in fear he'll choke himself. Is there something I can do to make him slow down? I wish there was something I could impale the chicken on that would force him to eat AROUND the obstruction (it would obviously have to be long enough that he wouldn't be able to just swallow that too). Anyone have any ideas? I'd hate to have to hold his food forever.

Hmm, that's a good question on slowing down a raw fed dog. I've not encountered that issue before but you have me wondering now. I might have to search this on another raw feeding forum I'm on if you don't get any suggestions.

Yay for Navi! That's wonderful news.
