| He VERY much looks malamute to me and very handsome. The coat you're describing is called black and white seal, my male malamute is seal colored as well. This is a shot of Khuma around 5 months old, about the same weight as Appa too. He's now 100 pounds. |

| If he's all Malamute we are in for a real treat in our small house... and to think my wife wanted a Yorkie. |

Yorkie's are super cute, but Appa is much cuter =) I'm a sucker for bigger dogs, but I love them all equally. Could be the ugliest lil thing and I still think it's so cute! LOL |

| That's a big boy you've got there! Just from pictures and description alone I'm thinking all Malamute. That's a winner in my opinion (Mals are definitely still my favorite breed). I have two AND a Yorkie-something thing.
Oh, and welcome to the forum! |

| I'm going to weigh in on the Mal voting. If I had to bet, I would definitely say Mal... but I'm with Eddy, that's a good thing! I love huskies more, but we would love to add a Mal to our household in the future! And don't be silly, I'd be upset if you left just because Appa turned out to be a Mal! We say It's A Husky Thing, but Mal's are just an understood addition to that Besides, we're here for all dog owners, not just northern breeds And yes... he's absolutely stunning. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| I would say Mal as well judging by the shape of the head and his size. He is gorgeous! Welcome to the forum. |

| So the first couple of days have been really intense at work. These two guys just can't stop rough-housing. They're both getting pretty tired, but the bulldog is struggling more. Appa just dances circles around him. Today we decided it was in the best interest of Rocco to require calmer play. This was a lot of work, but we finally got them to this point. I hope it sticks... |

| More of Appa with Rocco. Appa has to slow down a bit to keep it fun, he's just too fast for Rocco. |

| You got a lot of Malmute votes here, including me...in fact, other people have thought my boy is husky/mal mix because of his size, standing at about 25" tall and now weighing 103 lbs. Even my vet said if it wasn't for his 'blue' eyes (which are so light, it's almost white), she would have thought he had Mal...but papers say he's all Husky.
In any case, he is very handsome, and I look forward to more pics of your handsome boy.

| Oh they are! And we do! Everyone that touches him remarks how soft he is and/or his stuffed animal qualities. |

| New photo time. I needed a break for a bit so I took Appa for a walk around the lake on this nice overcast day. It then started to rain on us, but it felt nice. |

| I like that's walking path around the water! And the backdrop, as Val says, is very pretty!

| Those are the Wasatch Mountains. Basically the western edge of the Rocky Mountains. We're getting Appa used to his back-pack for a bit then taking him up there one of these evenings. |

| How far are you from Zion National Park? My brother and I took my son, Dakota and my brother's dog out there and camped and did the awesome trails. The scenary was to die for! I loved it and want to go back soon! |

My brother who retired a few years and now travels via motor home says Zion has to be the one of most beautiful places he has ever been. Utah is one of the 20 states I haven't set foot in yet |

Utah is one of the 20 states I haven't set foot in yet I would have to agree with him. I haven't been all over, but we did also go to Yosemite and Sequoia National Park all in the same trip and I had the most fun at Zion. Plus it was cheaper! The only bad thing was we learned once we got there that the dogs were not allowed on the trails at any of these parks. My brother and I had to take turns doing the trails so one of us was at the campsite with the dogs at all times. |
