New husky owner and I have several questions regarding my pup. I'll start off by saying she's 6 months old now she was born January 31st and I got her when she was 8 weeks. I started brushing her regularly around the start of summer and from the get go she started shedding a lot of her puppy coat she's actually still shedding it now(I do live in Georgia and it is quite hot here). Is she supposed to be blowing that much this soon? I also wanna add that when I weighed and measured her a few weeks ago she weighed between 30 and 35 pounds and she's 20 in tall. Everything I read says she shouldn't be nearly that tall or heavy yet.

How big was she when you got her? She looks adult in this pic, can you post picture of her standing?

that's a puppy alright. Suspect she might be a big girl where fully grown. When you say 20" - where did you measure that?

As for blowing coat - it does seem a bit early but temps, light, hormones, genetics all play a role. And the amount of fur a husky can produce is awe inspiring at times.

I knew she was gonna shed allot of fur especially since she has the wooly coat but I didn't think it would be so soon. I'm almost thinking since she's big for a female she's shedding her coat sooner than normal. And I measured her standing up from the ground to her shoulder blades. Ive also been told that puppies from small litter sizes can be on the bigger side but I'm not 100 percent on that but I'm almost convinced because she's from a litter of two just her and her sister and apparently she's big too

Different dogs grow at different rates. Some may grow a lot early and then slow down and others sometimes don't hit a spurt until they are older. Her growth plates don't look super open so she may slow down and not get a huge amount taller. It really depends on her parents. If they were oversized then she is likely to do the same, whereas if they are within breed standard then she, in general, will probably be around there are well, regardless of whether she gets there fast or slow. Small litters can grow fast because there's less competition for nutrition, but they won't necessarily get larger in the long run. Size is mostly determined by genetics, though a few outside factors can impact such as foods with growth hormones and time of spay. Fixing too early can occasionally lead to being oversized since sex hormones play a part in signaling the end of growth. Without them a dog can sometimes grow past normal size.
