I'm going to help out in a "meet the breed" event with my local kennel club. We're supposed to bring our dog and some general info about the breed. I would love to have some pictures to show guests just how much huskies can shed! And would like a couple of pics to show how easily a husky can destroy a house. And how they can easily jump fences, though that might be a hard one to get a pic of.
So anyone have any pics I can use??? Thank you!!!!

I have this shedding pic from a while ago, not the best pic but it shows some of the fur that was collected after 15 minutes of brushing and a lot of fur actually blew away in the wind before the pic was taken.

Sara,
There are some great videos of husky escapes on Youtube. Could you bring a laptop and have some of them running on it? This is all such a neat idea!

I brushed Dakota out for about 10 minutes this morning and brought my camera along.
What was left that the wind didn't blow away after brushing just ONE side of him:
Brushing with a double row rotating pin undercoat rake:
Brushing with a Furbuster (Furminator knock off that works just as well):

Val - STOP, he's gonna be bald!
I can't believe how much he sheds!
I'm afraid to brush out Storm after Jenn took a shedding blade to him yesterday...I hope it's windy today...

Val, I wish Koda enoyed being brushed as much as Dakota.. I have to tackle him to get him to lay on his side and not be a brat and have him on a leash so he doesn't try to escape from the brush!

YOU AND ME BOTH! I have to tie Mya up to the gate so that she doesn't run away from the brush. Then she sits so that I can't get to the back of her legs. GRRR! Haven't had to brush Kody yet, but that's coming soon!

Found the perfect video! Except I think they could have just said take obedience classes instead of targeting a single trainer and I personally don't like using a furminator.

Have you tried different brushes? Certain brushes Dakota HATES and will not stay still for, other brushes he is just fine with. And believe me, those vids of him staying fairly still are not the way he normally is! I'm actually VERY surprised he stayed nicely for that long. Normally I have to have his lead on because he gets bored very quickly and wants to play "catch me if you can". Shortly after turning off the camera he wanted to wander off and I had to wrestle with him to keep him still long enough to brush him for another 5 minutes before I just gave up.

I've seen that video many times and I wish they didn't put such a strong emphasis on CM, that style of training and mentality is not right for everyone. I also don't prefer the Furminator either, it's actually my least used brush...rarely gets used but I used it for a video just to show the difference in performance. The undercoat rake works soooo much better for me and is my favorite brush.
Claudia, does Storm blow more than Ginger or something? I have wads of husky fur all over my house and the yard.

Val, After Jenn took the shedding blade to Storm yesterday, I figured he might need to be raked...sure enough, just raking him for 10 minutes covered me and my small back yard with fur. Ginger is shedding out, but not nearly as much as Storm. When we first got Storm and raked him then furminated him, I thought he had already gone through his shedding cycle especially when his coat didn't feel quite as thick as Ginger's...After yesterday, I think he's just started! I raked him again in the middle of our early evening walk, and had as much to shed out still!
