| Hey everyone!
My male intact husky just turned 4 and he has not put on any size, he currently weighs around 45-47 lbs. He eats orijen dry kibble, 2 cups per day. He looks skinny and gets confused for a puppy many times.
Whenever I try to put only a few pounds on him but increasing his food intake, he will just have constant diarrhea for about a week.
I wanted to know how I can add a few pounds on him without causing him to have diarrhea... could I possibly add some olive oil on top of his kibble or some yogurt. And advice is appreciated thanks!
P.S.- I know huskies are not a large breed and that trying to pack on weight for a dog is unhealthy, but I only want him to gain 2-3 lbs. |

| I have an Alaskan, mostly Husky but who knows what else, I haven't DNA'd him. probably should just for curiosity sake. He weighed in at 50 pounds when I got him from the shelter and I did everything under the sun to add another 5 pounds to him ... didn't work. Like you, if I overfed him he left me soupy messes. He's been right around 50 pounds at every vet visit, he's healthy and the most stupid happy dog I've had.
Save yourself a lot of grief, just accept him as he is.
Oh, I tried high protein food, nope; canned dog food, nope; various "toppers", nope. All had the same results and after a while, enough was too much!

| Thanks for this post! I think it's time I accept my husky will remain this size and try not to get him to get "bigger". I always wanted a big dog and always admired big dogs my neighbors had like akitas, GSD, etc. I was hoping he would get bigger as the years went by but instead, he stayed the same size since age 2. But you're right, the only thing that happens when I try to get him to put on some pounds is a week of shitting inside the house. |
