| Yesterday we took a walk in the state park, uphill one way. Also, when jumping out of the car, he got caught in Ami's tether with his hind legs. No squeal or anything, and I caught him. But late last night, real stiff in his hind legs, this morning would not even weight bear.
I'm at the vet now, waiting in the parking lot. Vet at least got him to hobble in on his own. Came out, said she could not find any specific pain points, was doing blood work and Lyme .
So by the time I finish this, she came out, said Lyme negative, blood work good, just non specific discomfort, weakness in low back/hips. Carpofen for a week and start Dasuquin.
Phew. |

| If'n it tain't one things it's a dozen others!! I think they just want to keep us on our toes!
Hope it's nothing serious - with my dogs it wouldn't be - but only time will tell. Good luck!!

| All she found was non specific discomfort low back, hips, no indication of torn ligaments, neuro problems. Despite the negative Lyme, she's highly suspicious for it and days if he doesn't get better, she'll give him a trial of doxy. I don't think that's the issue, Z'ev does not roam the property line Ami does and I haven't found a tick on him since last year and maybe 2 total in 4 years. This happened abruptly he was eager for the walk yesterday (hence his bolting out of the car and getting hung up in Ami's tether. Neither dog has had much exercise at all in months due to my back/neuro/foot and butt problems. Which are probably all the result of my stupid stenosis.
I also forgot, yesterday morning the 2 dogs were full of the old scratch and chasing each other in the house, which is a no no. So I called them to go out and both tried to come up the steps through the doorway at once and Ami flattened Z'ev on the way through.
Anyhow... 1 carprofen and he was out trotting around after Ami. Been sleeping like the dead since. But. He is breathing! |

| Unbelievable. I have seen 1 carprofen yesterday afternoon which allowed him to have around enough to pee and poop. But mostly, he just slept. At dinner, I have him one of Ami's Dasuquin. By bedtime the little guy was doing helicopters for his treat, this morning he was screen screeching in his crate to get up for the day, he tackled Ami trying to get Ami's bone, (which was really funny, I heard a whole bunch of shrieking outside, weren't running, there was Ami, just standing over Z'ev who was in his back, and Ami is cool as a cucumber, not touching , just standing over him, as in nope, that's my bone.)
Then once in the house, he went running into the bedroom to see hubby, jumped up on the bed without any assist, jumped down, ran, got a drink, came back and jumped up again. Our bed is high, top of the mattress is at my waist height, I use a step stool to get in bed!
They need to make Dasuquin for people!!! |

| So umm of you do the calculations for dose by weight, cosquin for horses is basically safe for people. I was on it for years as a kid. And i think they now make it for humans. Cosamin DS. Some reading on the web shows no harm in people taking dog supplements, its more of an issue giving dogs human supplements because of things like artificial sweateners and chocolate. So i guess the bigger question is finding dasuquin in powder form. |

| Alot of small dogs are missing teeth and they seem to do fine. Ive also met some big dogs with no teeth (howard County md allows you to pull a biters teeth instead of euthanasia). As long as it came completely out it shouldnt be an issue. Just keep an eye out for infection and swelling. |

| My mother in laws dog Sandy has no teeth and she’s 13, how she lost her teeth is a funny story 13 years of biting the post woman’s MOVING car tire. And there is nothing you can do to stop her! As soon as you open the door to get the post she bolts for it and you can’t catch her, the post lady has to drive 5mph until she gets out the drive way But good news is she lives perfectly with out any front teeth and isn’t in any pain with it. I hope you boy gets better soon x |

| Called the vet today re: Ami's tooth. Or shall I say hole where there should be a tooth. Which is no longer a hole, gun completely healed over. Did not speak directly to vet but person in the phone said I could schedule a full dental in FEBRUARY!!! So I scheduled his annual check in early December. Sigh. Now I'm have to check his mouth daily to catch any infection if it starts |

| Yuck. I think squirt needs her teeth done but short of full anaesthesia no vet will go near her without lots of drugs and a muzzle. And seriously if i thought pulling squirts teeth would solve the spider issue i would in a heartbeat. Maybe you licked out and the whole tooth is gone. |
