| The past several months Dakota has been showing his age. It makes me so sad. I feel like it happened overnight. It wasn't long ago I had people asking me how old he was because they thought he was still a puppy! Last night Dakota was coming inside the door and he struggled getting up ONE step. He almost fell on his butt, but then an hour later he is running around the house with Willow. He also has been doing something else....it's kinda hard to describe. If I make a loud noise with metal.....or like dropping a plate ontop of another one, he practically falls to the ground. I feel like this started when he started having his seizures. I'm gonna take him back to the vet and have them check him over again. I hate this! |

| Aww, I don't ever want to deal with this stuff. I know it's inevitable but I really don't want to go down that road. Like my hubby says, our dogs are going to live forever. I hope it's nothing too serious with your Dakota. Please let us know how the vet visit goes. _________________ |

My hubby says the same and refuses for me to even mention when 30yrs from now (lol) they won't be with us anymore. I hope Dakota is ok. It's a good sign that he was running around with Willow after that though! I'm sure she'll keep him young =0) |

It's like a whole collection of smiles and sighs, sorrows and cries. Didn't mean for that to rhyme, but the forum often acts as one big extended family. We're coming up on 2 years... I can't believe it's been that long! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

How old is your lab/pitbull mix? Thanks everyone. I'm so not ready for this. I had it in my head that I wouldn't have to deal with any of this until he was 14 or 15. He seriously was acting like a pup himself not 6 months ago. It wasn't long ago his vet was asking me what I do with him because he was amazed with how strong his heart was for his age. One of my friends asked me if I thought it was becuase of Willow since he was fine until I got her. I really hope that is not the case. I got her for him. He always wanted to play with the neighborhood dogs and I was finally in a position to get him his very own playmate and now he can't really take full advantage. Don't get me wrong, it's not like he is an invalid or anything....it's just weird how these sypmtoms just started popping up and I guess it's just making it my reality that Dakota is officially a senior and I just worry that he will continue to decline. I told my family/friends that I couldn't be going out all that much right now cause I want to spend as much time with my dogs as I can. I don't want to regret not being there for him. |
