If this is in the wrong place please let me know!

Nikita has turned into quite the escape artist. She escaped Thursday night, Friday evening, Saturday morning, Wednesday afternoon, and this morning. Every time we've fixed the spot she's getting out but she finds a new one in a matter of minutes. Granted our back fence isn't the best but it can't get repaired for about another month. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to stop this? Collars? Chains? Invisible fence? She even gets out when I'm with her. I'm just too slow to stop her and don't have the stamina to keep chasing her away from the back fence Everytime she gets too close.

This morning she decided to bring a bunch of ticks home after her adventure so she's at the vet getting bathed because today is my busy day and I just didn't have the time to pick all of them off. Right now she's just going into the woods and running around but there's a busy road behind those woods and I don't want her discovering that. There's a cattle pasture back there too and I don't want her terrorizing them and getting hurt.

Thanks in advance!!

Short term, go to your nearest walmart/petco/tractor supply/whatever or order from Chewy (you'll have it almost overnight, pick up an overhead dog trolley/runner/zip line thingy and install. It can be installed between 2 trees, the house and a tree or sturdy pole, another building. Just make sure she can't reach the fence to try and climb over, preferably no trees/obstructions close enough for her to climb or get tangled.

Once you've got the immediate emergency contained, you might continue with this or you can look into invisible fence or fortifying your existing fence. You might want to add a doghouse so she has shelter.

I may do the line thing. We have a storage building in our backyard I could hook it to. She won't be out long, 20-30 minutes max at a time. But with the weather turning colder and if this is longer term I will definitely consider shelter.

Our yard is pretty bare. We have an above ground pool and that's about it. No trees, just some trailers and a boat but she won't be able to reach them if I do the trolley thing.

I like an electric fence for the obsessive escape artists. You can get the in-ground fences and just zip tie them to the current fence to get it up and going fast. I had the stay and play wireless fence but the kicker with it is that the boundary is round so you would have to set the fence up to be smaller than the yard but it could keep her back from the fence. With the electric fence you have a longer term fix but the initial investment is higher.

Agree with Jenn on the inground electric fence. I would definitely go with that for longer term solution. But, there is training involved which is why for the immediate term, is put up the trolley.

Also, Jenn is right, the wired inground is more reliable than the wireless. I like the do it yourself Petsafe yardmax, the collar is rechargeable and you don't have to buy proprietary batteries.

I've never used an electric fence but it's becoming a real possibility. How do you go about training them with it?

I'm hoping once the house is built and we get a better taller fence it won't be as much of a problem, but that date is set to "before Christmas." I'll believe that when I'm moved in.
