Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! | We adopted a mix breed husky a year ago. On Friday I rescued another one, but she is 3 years old. They both are girls. The new rescue one is a bit stubborn to the other one. Show teeth as she gets closer to us especially when giving love. Will it blow over? She showed her teeth to my boy, she was sniffing for something under the couch and when my boy went to look for what she is sniffing she showed her teeth, that made me a little worried. She had been on heat until Thursday, but she was sterilized on Thursday. Can it still play a role? Really don't want to take her back. On the left is the new rescue husky & the right side is the one the mixed breed husky. Both names are Skye. Thank you. |

| Many rescues have some level of resource guarding habits. If what she was smelling for she thought was a toy or treat then she will instinctually guard it from someone coming in and taking it away. It's something you will have to work through. It is unlikely to go away on its own but can lessen as she grows more comfortable with you and is consistently provided for. Hand feeding and withholding toys or lasting chews until you all get to know each other better can assist in keeping tension down between you and her, as well as her and your other dog. If she goes to guard something like a toy or bone and you need it from her you can employ the trade method. Exchange a fish skin chew or biscuit for whatever she is guarding. It can take a couple months or more for a new rescue to settle in and show their true colors after coming into a home. _________________ |

| Trust must be earned through kindness and patience.
It takes lots of love, encouragement and kindness, especially not knowing what kind of an environment she came from. When you give her treats hold on for a moment or two, don't let her grab them from you. If she growls when anyone approaches give her some space and kind words of encouragement. That's the best time to offer her something she really likes but make her come to you for it. |
