I want to start a Scrapbook for Siku, starting off with what was posted in the welcome mat:

My wife decided she wanted a Husky puppy a few months ago, and I didn't think it sounded like a good idea at the time. She started researching and following a litter. This time she asked if we could get a Husky, not a puppy. I guess since our youngest of three boys is 16, she needed another challenge, lol.

Siku was born on 7/13/2013. After his second vet visit he weighed in at 19.2#. Overall, I'd say he is behaving just like a Husky would behave. Finding this forum has helped us sort out what we should and shouldn't do. I'll start a thread when I get a chance, but for now, here's a few pics. Most recent first.

Yesterday at the Puppy Park. First time we saw another Husky, and there were five total! Siku was the youngest of the bunch. I was really impressed with how well Huskies play together.

He is very cute puppy! You take great pictures.

What an adorable puppy! What kind of shop do you have? I have a secret dream of owning some kind of business where Bode is the "shop dog".

Thanks much! Those are just with my camera phone. The picture quality from phones are so good now, I don't bother using a real camera any more.

Thank you. My wife and I own a granite countertop business, in a fairly rural area. There is enough room behind our building to let him run off-leash with supervision. Inside there is enough space for training or to play on a rainy day. During the day he likes to sleep under my wife's desk and keep her feet warm. My grandson's name is Bodhi, lol.

He's so cute! He looks like he enjoyed the leaves. I can't wait until we move to somewhere with seasons to see how Shadow enjoys it (we live in the desert right now).

He's so pretty!!! ugh, um I mean handsome...such a handsome boy lol, great pics and yeah Nova's collar is so loud when ever I can't hear it jingling I always go on the alert.

Weighed in at 40.6# this week. Had a good "get tired for Thanksgiving Day" at the puppy park today.

Big guy was interested in the Husky ruckus.

Not the best day for Siku today. Had an aggressive dog pin him to the ground by his throat at the puppy park. The dogs owner was nowhere to be found, and it took a while to get the dog off of him. While it was happening, I told Siku to lay down and stay until it was over. Thankfully he did. I approached the owner about the incident, and he said that it was just normal dog aggression. I assured him it wasn't, and questioned how he would know as he was nowhere near. Things got, let's say, a little ugly at that point. Unfortunately, too many times it's the owner at fault, and not really the dog, that's all I have to say about that.

Since Siku didn't really get any exercise at the park, I took him for a walk along the harbor. About a half mile from home, he picked something up off of the sidewalk and started thrashing around. He had a jig in his mouth, and the hook was stuck in his tongue.  I tried to get it out, but it was in past the barb. I called my wife and had here come pick us up. We went to our vet, who was about to close, and were referred to the emergency vet. Both were fairly close, but seemed far. He was sedated, and the vet cut the hook and pushed the barb through.

All in all, he's doing fine. Things could have been worse today, but they weren't. Tomorrow is another day.

Yikes! Sounds like a pretty bad day, I'm glad poor Siku is okay! :/

Thanks, Siku is doing fine. He was just a little loopy from the sedative so we kept him away from the stairs for tonight. On the way home he was overly kissy and cuddly, like a happy drunk.

I'd like to make it to another huddle, all of the Husky's have a good time!

Picture a woozy dog slobbering on your face and slurring, "I love you man".
Never been to a dog park but I really do think a person has to be watching their dog as they would a child. Even if pinning is normal dog behavior it's not good manners and it's the owners responsibility to control a dogs bad behavior. I'm glad Siku wasn't hurt from the ordeal.

Husky weather!




Siku's tongue was fine by the next day. He has been losing teeth lately, causing him to be a little cranky in the evening. He is learning to motion towards the freezer when he wants an ice cube. We can see his intelligence grow at this age.




He sat very well for the Petco Santa, despite the fact that there was a pen full of small dogs just to the left of her (Santa). After picture time, Santa had to call Siku back for extra snuggle time. He is doing so well meeting new people that I find myself cautioning people with young children about the level of care that Husky's require.

Tonight's walk included hand warmers, but my hands still got cold, grrr. I need mittens, maybe. Siku noticed the moving figurines in the window display. He got up on the bench and stared and barked at them. My son took him out earlier, and he got three good walks in today.

He's such a cutie! It looks like he's loving the weather

Boy, the more I see of this dog the more I can see the gears in his head move. He is a study-er, you can almost see his brain absorbing data.

Happiness is a warm puppy....
