Thinking of getting a husky mix puppy Empty
PostSubject: Thinking of getting a husky mix puppy   Thinking of getting a husky mix puppy EmptyWed Nov 28, 2018 1:47 pm

Hello! I'm hoping someone may be able to give me some info. My husband and I have 3 sons. Ages 2, 5 and 8. We have a 14 year old cat and a 12 year old Jack russle terrier. We have been wanting to add a member to our family and wanting to get something a little bigger and a female. A friend called me and she has sheltie husky mix puppies. They are adorable! I was just wondering if anyone knows how a husky mix does as far as training and with kids and if this would be a good addition to our family? In opinions are greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I'm not too sure about *that* mix Smile  but generally Huskies are excellent with kids - normal precaution need to be considered, of course. Cats and other small animals can be problematic since the adult Husky can see them as prey but generally, when raised from puppyhood, in a house with other animals they fit right in. (( I have three Huskies and two cats, my dogs will all pounce at the cats, the cats just look over their shoulder with a "What the hey???"))

I really cannot picture that mix ... you're either going to have the noisiest pup going - - in my experience Jack Russel are yappers and Huskies are talkers -or- a Jack Russell who just won't run down (shades of the Duracell bunny!)

Huskies tend to be cleaner overall than most dogs, they also tend to shed more hair than most other dogs.  Training could be a problem since Huskies tend to be headstrong, you have to convince the Husky that he's going to get something out of the training session, where my neighbors Jack Russells are considerably easier to train and more willing than my Huskies.

Good luck !!!!!

Oh the hair in your future. Should look a lot like a wooly husky potentially. Shelties have very nice temperaments so should have a nice personality barring anything foul in the parents. It will probably have a lot of drive with the sheltie and both are energetic breeds so exercise is key just as much with a mix as it is with a pure.
