So southwest Colorado has been extremely warm for this time of year and spider who normally blows her coat in February is blowing her coat now. 2 worries are something is wrong for this to happen and that when we get our normal below zero temps she will be cold. Is it something i should be worried about or are huskys known to randomly blow thier coats

Nothing to worry about! Huskies will blow their coat when they want to blow their coat. My 2 year old male husky blew his coat back in November, but my friend's husky is just blowing her coat now. We both live in the same area. It's completely dog dependent and nothing you need to worry about!

Just let them do their thing, and good luck keeping up with all that FUR!

Robot vacuum cleaner is honestly my best friend.  Though expensive at first, I really do suggest investing in a high quality dog blower.  I minimized his blow this fall from his usual 1 month long expedition to 1 week! Two best investments ever!

I use a mane comb tho i also have a bunch of other brushes. A metal currycomb works great also but carefully and tho its for horses not in the same motion as on a horse. And as for the carprt i got a grandi groom carpet rake and its become my best friend.

If your question is something that you can't find by doing a search then best to start a new thread. We have an entire section devoted to grooming. A lot of information out there, but the search can be finicky to use sometimes.

General overview of shedding and huskies:

they shed...a lot. Frequent brushing with a slicker brush or undercoat rake is recommended. That will help keep your house a little less hairy but you will still have to vacuum or sweep often. They shed heavily twice a year where they will look extra mangy. That is normal. It is also normal for them to shed after being rehomed if they were on a "junk" kibble at their prior home or shelter and have been switched to a higher quality food.

If the topic is short and has stayed pretty much on topic and your question is 'close enough' then include it there.
If the topic has wandered all over the back 40 (and some of our topics seem to do that) then include your question in that topic.
If your topic is sorta unique (Why does my Husky have 6 toes?) then by all means start a new topic.

As she says our search function is a little quirky. If I search for polydactyl on the search screen, it returns nothing. However, if I use the advanced function and click on 'Search Google' it returns one hit ( a cat named Polydactyl? ) I tend to use the advanced search whenever I try to find something here, btw.

I am using my phone and the topic'it app. I'm not thrilled. Last night I went online via my desktop and wow much better...

Im here in Denver and i have spent a many Christmas's dealing with Jack blowing his coat at this time
Finn has started on his hind quarters the last 2 weeks, Jack does not seems to be as bad this yr as in the past.
I would say its normal for me here in CO. and even being out in the Snow they have been fine after a coat blow, i feel like the under coat comes in faster in the winter then summer.

@Jennifer i wouldnt be surprised if you get alot more shedding then me in the spring/summer denver is alot warmer then where i live but if the dogs get thier way and global warming keeps up i may have to invest in ac
