| But I'm looking to see if you guys think my dog has Husky and Beagle mix or if maybe he has some shepherd mixed in there, too. He is very high energy, LOVES water, has those piercing blue eyes and chews on everything (including my hands if he can get to them). Previous owners told me he is about 7 months old. I've been working with him a lot, training him as much as I can and attempt to get him exercise as much as possible! Can anyone tell me how to add a photo so you can see him?

| Awwww... what a cutie!! I can't wait to show my son this picture of your baby! His favorite dogs are huskies and beagles...and you've got both IN ONE PACKAGE!! I don't have the answer to whether there is any shepherd in him. All I know is he's precious!
Welcome! |

| Hi! My name is Valerie too! He IS adorable! He does look like he could be a husky/hound mix of some sort. I would say hound but I wouldn't say shepherd. Chewing is a puppy and DOG thing! lol Puppies chew tremendously and so does the husky breed but then again a LOT of breeds chew quite a bit too so I wouldn't necessarily say it's a husky thing. _________________ |

| Thanks, everyone! This is the first puppy I've had in a VERY long time...I used to be mainly a "cat person." (I have 4 cats)... But this one was available and his eyes just spoke to me. I had to get him! He's a really good pup...just lots of energy. I worry that he doesn't get enough exercise - though I try to walk him first thing in the morning for about 20 minutes before work, then let him out at lunch to play in the yard, then a walk in the evening. He still has plenty of energy after the evening walk, so I'm thinking I need to make the walks longer. I don't want him to feel neglected...that's what I worry the most about! P.S. Val, it's nice to meet another "Val!" |

| Hounds and huskies are both high energy breeds due to what they were bred for. If you can, I would definitely see about increasing his daily exercise. Back when I was working I walked my sibe before work, came home at lunch to take him for another walk, then immediately after work in the afternoon I walked him to a park where I let him run and play, then one last walk before bed. That didn't tire him out at all but it kept him and us sane at least. That could be one reason he chews a lot is as a means of working out his frustration/pent up energy and relieving his boredom. I don't mean that in a bad way, I'm not suggesting that he is neglected or anything, just offering it as a possible explanation for his chewing. But it sounds like he's chewing things that he's allowed to chew which is a good thing! My sibe chews a lot more when he's not tired and bored. If he gets more exercise then he sleeps more and chews less because he's tired. Another idea for extra stimulation is training. A few short training sessions a day can help tire him out (along with the necessary physical exercise) by working his brain and making him think. Plus the training sessions are short and give you some good one-on-one bonding time. And since you've got some hound in him you can try search/hide-and-seek games with him. _________________ |

| Blue eyes look amazing. But it does not seem like Husky mix. |
