| Woah. That's a big difference... HUGE loss. I think Dr. Miller's might be calibrated a little on the heavy side though - every scale Nikolai's been on pegs him between 46-47 pounds. The two times he's been at RSAC, he's been 47.6 and 48ish. |

| Val, heart guard is my guess, since it deals with weight.
kate if you think hers in on the heavy side sierra might be even less.... now i got to take them somewhere else and test this theory of yours! _________________ |

| Yep - HG= heartguard....
If Nikolai is about 1 lb heavier at Dr. M's, then Storm would probably still show about a 4lb loss....I still think that is a lot in about a week's time...
Stay tuned...for the weigh in results at Dr. M's either tomorrow or Friday...

May 3: Walked to Dr. Miller's office. Storm weighed in at 106.2 lbs.
I know Storm was just weighed a few days ago, but we had to go in to get his thyroid checked because he was showing symptoms that the dose may be too high and they weighed him again...
May 6: Storm weighed in at 105.9 lbs.
Yee Haw! We're hiking tomorrow...hubby's goal is to get him down to 100 lbs by the end of May.
May 16: Weigh in at 105.5 lbs.
Still going in the right direction. We won't hit 100 lbs at the end of May but as long as we're still going in the right direction, I'm happy.
Stopped off at Dr. M's for weigh in for Storm.... May 27: 103.9 lbs Still going in the right direction! _________________ |

| 10 lbs in two months is pretty impressive! Way to go! Won't be long before he's back in the double digits! _________________ |

| The first weight goal for Storm is 100 lbs, and then we'll re-evaluate his weight and adjust accordingly.

| He's doing awesome! Do you think it is easier for a male dog to lose weight over a female dog like it is for humans? |

| I don't know if it's easier for male dogs to lose weight vs. female dogs....
However, for Storm....first of all, Storm is on Thyroxine as his thyroid numbers are borderline, probably due to his weight. We've already had to cut his dose in half since he started on April 17.
Second, not only is he on weight management food, my vet worked up a sheet as to how much calories he should have to maintain his weight and calories he should have for healthy weight loss. So I am counting calories to monitor his caloric intake on a daily basis to make sure he does not get any more than the number of calories for maintaining weight.
Third, I've been making sure he walks at LEAST 2 miles EVERY day. We've been taking him hiking, biking, and to the dog park on top of that whenever we can, so he gets enough exercise.

That's is awesome what you are doing for him! You are such a good husky mom! It's sad to think of how many people wouldn't take the time or the effort. |

June 8 - 102.2 lbs Dr. Miller says when we walked in the door: 'Well, hello Storm! I see all the pictures posted on Facebook, and you are looking so good lately! I remember when I first met you, I couldn't find any ribs under you, and now I can feel ribs!' We have 2.2lbs to lose before July 2nd so that I don't have to buy an extra Heartguard for the extra weight over 100 lbs.... _________________ |

| We're hiking on Sunday and should be able to go until we get tired since we're headed to the mountains it should be a high of 67 degrees. And then there's the meet-up the following Saturday and hopefully he'll get some running around then too. So hopefully that'll help. I really want to say he's under 100 lbs already! _________________ |

| I thought I was being smart in mixing in some green beans in Storm's food with Nupro and some THK....it worked great with the french cut but nope on the regular cut - he STILL managed to eat around it Must go to the store for FRENCH cut green beans.... _________________ |
