| She looks to be a nice, healthy weight already. Why would you want her fatter? She really is cute as a button! _________________ |

| thanks guys. I think she starts to hate her kibbles. By the way, I add some water into her kibbles just enough for it to be soft, but last night she wasn't able to finish her dish. She ate just a very few of it. So I've researched some infos and found out that karo syrup is okay for huskies. So that's what I did this morning, added some syrup into her kibbles but without water. And again, she ate so very little. |

So I've researched some infos and found out that karo syrup is okay for huskies. So that's what I did this morning, added some syrup into her kibbles but without water. And again, she ate so very little. Picky eaters are created, not born! You are in the process of creating a picky eater which will haunt you for the rest of her life. First off, has she been to the vet to rule out any health or parasite issues that might affect her appetite? Second, how much are you feeding her and what is her feeding schedule? Of the amount that you are feeding, how much approximately would you say she is actually eating? I would not be adding Karo syrup to her food to get her to eat, a healthy dog will not starve itself and you do not want to set up a pattern where she knows you'll give in to her if she holds out a little. You'll have a spoiled brat in no time! I would not start adding things to her kibble to make them more enticing unless you plan on doing that long term. Karo syrup is not something I would advise adding anyway unless you suspect she is hypoglycemic which I highly doubt is the case. For flavor additives I would use parmesan cheese, cottage cheese, plain yogurt, canned food or even a supplement like Nupro mixed with water can be enticing. Again, don't even bother starting any of those unless you plan to do mix-ins long term. Since your little one is still a very young pup I doubt she's been on her current food for very long, but when she gets older I would try to rotate and vary her food not only for nutritional reasons but also to offer flavor changes as well. _________________ |

| Success! She completed her meal once again. I don't use syrup anymore. I just added some Parmesan cheese yesterday and raw egg for her dinner tonight. Love this girl so much! Thank you for your non-stop help and support! |

| wow Karo syrup really?! Raw Egg is good, heck I toss the whole shell and all in there sometimes, they love the calcium and the extra protien wont hurt. Huskies have this strange ability to regulate what they eat, a healthy husky is a thin trim husky, adding extra weight can lead to health issues. Huslies can actually go days without food without causing harm, it has to do with their history and scientists are actually baffled at how they can do it.
DO not sweeten up her food, My suggesiton is get a good quality puppy food, and feed her accorsing to the feeding standards listed on the bag. My suggesitons for food would be Wellness, Soldi Gold or we have found Professional to be an OK food. Goto Dogfoodanalysis.com to compare foods. i would try to stay 3 star and above. We switched to professional from wellness mainly because of cost.
Puppies should eat about 3 cups of puppy chow a day in 3 meals. A health siberian will have a definate waistline, from the side you should see a rise after the ribs, and from the top you should see a defined waist. You do not want to fatten up your siberian its unhealthy for them.
If you want them "fluffier" you can look at some of the emulsifying shampoos for when you bathe your pup, but how effective that will be will depend on the coat. Sibes can have a closed coat or an open coat, open coat tends to be fluffier. |
