| Dear all,
My Husky (Nero), has been without food for nearly four days now. He is 5 months old this May 2nd.
He used to vomit frequently during the first two days of his "fasting-period". He is not vomitting anymore now.
Vet had seen him, but found nothing wrong, because he was/is as agile and as active as ever before. But of course there is something wrong with him. His urine is way too "yellow", and he is not pooping anymore.
During this fasting period (until today) I have been injecting honey and yellow raw egg through his mouth. He ate a little bit of chicken meal today though..
Can someone please help me? :-(
Thanks a lot. |

| Missing 1, 2 or even 3 meals is sometimes normal for picky eaters. Let me say 4 days is bordering on a serious condition and not normal behavior. Dogs will almost always eat high value food (raw meat, chicken, fish) and especially after 4 days without. If your current vet blew you off, seek a second opinion. I assume the the vet checked for any abdominal hardness or obstruction. Is he still drinking water okay? It could be something like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), torsion, or any number of gastrointestinal diseases. Also could be related to esophageal issues.

I would strongly insist on further examination by a vet. |

| Has your vet taken any blood or stool sample tests? Has your vet ruled out any issues with kidney or liver?

| I have arranged a meeting for examination, with another vet.
And we don't have labs for pets here, so it wouldn't be possible.
Thanks for your advise everyoe. Will provide you update very soon.

| It could be so many things so I'd definitely seek another vets advice. The urine may be more "yellow" if he is not drinking enough and is dehydrated which could result in more concentrated urine, hence the deeper yellow. I hope he's okay and am anxiously awaiting the results. _________________ |

| Dear all,
I am pleased to tell you that my Nero is doing ok. His appetite has come back, he eats greedily, and is playful as ever. He is not vomiting anymore, and his stools are back to normal.
I found few days ago, that he often dragged his bottom against the floor, and I assumed that he might be infected by some worm diseases.
I called my vet and she said it could be because of worm; she then prescribed me with drontal 1,5 tablet. He vomitted few hours later, but that was the last one.
His condition improved gradually, and his urine is not so yellow-concentrated anymore.
Well, I am relieved knowing he is getting better by the day.
Vet said I need to pay more attention to him. Do you guys think Nero needs a friend? Because recently, this past month I have been so busy, and barely had playing time with him. But I am not sure having another Husky would be good.
Please share some insight.
Thanks guys. |

| Good to hear he's doing better! Did your vet say what was causing his issues?

| Actually the vet did not come to see him. We only talked via phone and chatted via Blackberry. And Drontal seems to solve all the problem (I hope). - Here4thePics wrote:

Best excuse for getting another Husky. Hehe, I personally would like to have another Husky, but I think my house will explode having 2 Huskies at once. I am just concerned about Nero..because the doctor said he was depressed being alone all days, 9am to 7pm. And I go to bed at 10pm. He has just become too lonely all of the sudden. :-( |

| If Nero is depressed due to loneliness heaven forbid that he learns that keeping busy will help him pass the time......... AKA- home destruction |
