Is it bad to use baby wipes to wipe her under body after going out for a walk? Since she is still small right now, I want to make sure I wipe off the dew when I take her out in the mornings and late night as well as the urine that she steps on sometimes. She's a dufus too, so she like to roll around in the grass sometimes.

Nope use away...lol I use them all day long, they do make them for dogs you can get them at Petsmart and Target and probably Walmart.

Well, if the baby wipes have no adverse effects, I'll continue to use them. And I don't use them every time I walk her. I guess what I should have said on the first post was, Is there a chemical(s) that I should keep my eyes open for? I don't want to get anything that might be bad for her skin or fur. Like using something that is out of pH for her. Such as using people hair products on dogs. I know that is a NO NO.

If there is nothing wrong with baby wipes, I'll continue to use them since the dog wipes are more expensive per sheet. As you can see, I was just a little curious as to what the ingredients were for the wipes. The website GoodGuide ranked 229 wipes and the huggies and seventh heaven were among the best on health (for babies) and environment.
From what I can tell, the Seventh Generation, Nature's Miracle, and Earthbath have all natural ingredients. Petkin also seems to be all natural too and very popular on the Petco site. So on basis of expense, I'll stick with the seventh generation wipes.

Baby wipes are fine and I've never worried about ingredients and all of mine have been fine. If they're safe for use on a baby then I'm sure they're safe enough for a dog.

They are fine! I use them when we run out of our regular wipes.

We use these that are specifically used for dogs.

I use the Pet Head wipes as well, and carry like 15 "travel" cases of huggies wipes in my car. It's just like baby shampoo. It's totally safe

Mine always get into stuff when were are out, so they get wiped down before getting back in the car. It's also handy for then they decide to get gross stuff on your seat!

I will probably get baby wipes next since I can get coupons for them. I was using the Paul Mitchell and Pet Heads but I never have any coupons for those.

Baby wipes have been my savior with little Ms. Asia!!! Only thing about that I prefer about the doggie wipes is that they're a bit bigger and thicker so it's easier to wipe the pups down!

i have baby wipes in the car, never leave home with out them, great for me and the pups! i have gotten the pet wipes from walmart as well, they just smell good and like Melissa said they are thicker and bigger for big messes!

I know this topic is quite old, but since it turned up for me on an internet search, I thought I was still worth posting a reply.
You should NOT use baby wipes on a dog. Many baby wipes contain Propylene Glycol, which I have read from many sources is toxic to dogs. Given how difficult it can be to determine what is and is not safe for dogs, I would not chance it.
I found a good alternative to both baby wipes and expensive dog wipes. I bought a roll of soft style Viva paper towels. They are strong, the texture is very similar to baby wipes, and you can get a roll at Walmart for under $2. I also bought a bottle of Oster Waterless no-rinse dog shampoo. They make two kinds; I bought the Lavender-Chamomile. I just wet the paper towel with a little warm water, then put a little bit of the shampoo on it. It does wonders for cleaning up my dog, and I know it is safe since it is a dog shampoo.

So you have to be watchful indeed. babies just like dogs will lick or have hands and feet in their mouths, so again if the baby wipe is safe for a baby it is safe for my dog. Here is a link about dry shampoos for dogs, remember don't always believe something is safe just because someone puts a stamp on it and says made for dogs. i would not use a dry shampoo for my dog, and will rarely wash either of mine, during the summer a good rise with the hose with clean water is more than sufficient, and a baby wipe here and there for deep down dirty grime works safely. Most huskies actually get rid of the dirt on their own, just falls off when dry, and no need to wash anyways. Lastly, if your dog smells, even after a bath, or is excessively oily, chances are they have an allergy to something and bathing is not going to make a change nor in some cases help. Changing an intolerance to the environment or food will. Here is the link about dry shampoos.

Well the big difference between using a wipe on a baby and using one on a dog that most people don't consider is, babies don't lick their bottoms, so there is no chance of them ingesting the ingredients contained in the wipes. Although some people may use the wipes on their baby's hands & feet, that is not their intended use unless it is stated it is for that. Also, there are many things that humans can ingest that won't harm them, but could harm a dog. Dogs often lick themselves, especially when they smell something unusual on their body, so they can and would ingest it. I had read of several cases where people had said that they had used wipes on their dog regularly not knowing it could be harmful, and later the dog died from it, which was why I posted the comment.

Thanks for the info about dry shampoos. The shampoo I was referring to isn't a dry shampoo, it's actually a foam. I don't use it as a normal shampoo on my dog. I got it to clean the wax out of his ear (a small amount on a damp paper towel), but after the first use it appears he may be allergic to something in it, because his eyes got red even though I didn't use it on his face, so I won't be using it anymore.

No worries, I am with you on keeping my dogs as safe as possible. The wipes are used normally in places they can't lick. My husky girl is a scent roller, and ugh usually it gets on her face or side, places she can't lick and safe to use the wipe. Since you mentioned the ear issue.............if it's to basic clean you can use apple cider vinegar with mother in it, much safer and has healing properties, use as you did with the soft paper towels. If the ears are scratched or inflamed coconut oil is also a wonderful healer. If you have neither, and no abrasions in the ear rubbing alcohol (or if you're in Europe surgical spirit) is fine to use. Puppies need the ears clean, but an adult should be self cleaning unless got into something they shouldn't. If it is common that you need to clean your dogs ears, as I mentioned in my other post look into allergies, many common allergies show up as cruddy looking ears and eye goop. I wish you luck, and I really didn't want you to think I was being snarky, just trying to communicate with a new person, and sharing ideas.

Since when are baby wipes used for bottoms only? I use baby wipes for everything, bottoms, hands, dirty faces. And in all my years I have never ever had a problem with any child or dog getting sick from a baby wipe.

My mom has bought wipes made specifically for dogs and not only do I find them less effective than normal baby wipes, they are loaded with scent and get all foamy and loaded with chemicals. Thanks but no thanks. I will be sticking with baby wipes.

Roxanne_d - I've used that lavender foam dry shampoo stuff. Stinks far worse than any "eau de poop" my boy has rolled in... I just use corn starch based baby powder or plain water. Living in the boonies with indoor/outdoor dogs that get into all sorts of things, I found all wipes to be rather expensive on a daily basis. Especially with the amount of surface area on my over-sized, wooly boy.
