| Just wondering what training procedure you used to do this. Also, how consistent has this behavior been once trained?
Thanks |

| Kenzi will kinda do it. It's not consistent anymore. It could be if I had stuck with it but didn't really see a use for the skill. I would get her really excited and tell her to speak. When she would get so excited that she would yip then I would give her a treat. At first all I could get was a whine out of her and would reward for that since it was sound but the longer we went the more I made her really talk for the treat. _________________ |

| I tried with Ami. Sat on a snow bank face to face with him, said speak and then howled to him. After the third time, he gave me a funny look and pawed at my face. Left bloody railroad tracks down my forehead, nose and chin. Decided it wasn't worth it |

| I think it helps if the dog is already inclined to speak. With Kohdi, all I have to do is look him in the eye. He does the woo woo howling thing though, not a bark. One of the things I like best about huskies is that they normally don't bark! So much nicer to hear the little songs they sing with their woo wooing. |

| Jimmy... tell that to all the people on the vet's office last week when Ami got his rabies booster! While he sat nicely next to me while waiting, there was an owner and dog at the desk. And Ami was singin' an opera. Like he's never sung before. He wanted to play with that dog sooooo bad. Some people looked askance at the sounds others were trying to smother laughter.

| OH, Amy, the vets office...I know it all too well however, Kohdi manages to get a smile from even the most uptight people there I did learn I have to not let him continue his concerts though...it can upset dogs in the back, as I found out from the receptionist. Kohdi is a clown, when he's not singing, he's tricking me into thinking he just wants to lay down, then he slides/crawls over to people to get some love, lol. I pull him back by his leash, he doesn't get up, he just lets me slide him back towards me, hahaha. Always gets laughter and smiles from his "ways" |

| I trained my sibe to speak on command. Took about a week and it has been solid the rest of his life. He was actually a really quiet boy at first so training it was difficult at first. But on the rare occasion he made a sound I immediately said "speak" paired with a hand signal (I use the "quiet finger", index finger at my lips, as my hand signal) and immediately gave a great. He caught on real fast and I haven't been able to shut him up since. All I have to do is use the quiet finger now & he will either bark or sing me a song immediately. Trained this 10 years ago and he's as solid as when he first learned. _________________ |

| Mine is the most food motivated dog ever so teaching her to speak was easy. Takes her a few "speak" commands with food waiting for her to bark. Other than that she never makes a sound. |
