I inherited a Husky. White. She is beautiful, playful, loves everyone but she sheds. I have white hair EVERYWHERE! Is there anything I can do to limit this?

Feed a good diet and keep up with brushing. There's going to be twice a year where the hair is going to be out of control. That's just part of owning a husky. They blow their whole coat spring and fall, or around those times. The rest of the time it slows down. If you keep up with brushing it will keep the tumble weeds in the house to a minimum. For the most part though you are going to have to learn to love hair because there is no way to completely stop it. Some use high velocity dryers during coat blow season to help speed up the process though. Undercoat rake is a must to your arsenal of brushes as well.

Basically what Twister said! You have to brush, brush, brush. Don't skimp on the quality of brush you use. Very Happy They make a lot of brushes specifically for husky coats that can keep it under control for varying amounts of time, but they will never stop shedding. Additional advice: Buy a lot of those 3-pack large lint rollers, and get a vacuum that's designed to tackle pet fur!

If you don't have the time or willingness to deal with the hair and brushing then some groomers offer a deshedding service which involves washing and a brush out which unfortunately I think they use something like the Furminator (not recommended or ideal for their coats). My uncle has used this grooming service for his Akitas for years and swears by it.

When my mom was pet sitting our Dakota she paid for this service on him and she raved about how much the shedding was cut down and how much less she had to vacuum for weeks as a result. So while I personally don't use that service or particularly recommend it, I can understand that not everyone can handle it. And if it comes down to using such grooming service vs finding a new living situation because it's too much, I will gladly say use the grooming service if you need to. Wink
