I have an all white husky that is three years old and my boyfriend and I have to find him a new home. He is very loving and a happy dog who has lots of energy, which is typical of a husky. But he is aggressive. He is not aggressive all of the time it is just once in awhile. We just cannot keep him despite him being a great dog =/. We want to find him a great new home and people who will keep him forever. If you know anyone, please please let me know!

Okay, a couple of suggestions here before the masses start to throw stones:

1. Please rename your thread to say "3 yr old white husky in [location]". We need to know where you are located.

2. Please don't use the term "get rid of"... you'll only be sorry with the reaction you are going to receive by a LOT of people who care very deeply about this breed.

3. Give us a background. How long have you had him? When did the problems arise? Why do you think he's aggressive?

4. Let us know if there's any hope of you keeping him. You will likely get a lot of offers for training advice and assistance as we would rather your dog find his forever home with you than anyone else. If you tell us that there's NO hope of that, then I will try to keep conversations away from that.


Remember we know nothing about you other than what you post on this computer screen. Try to take things with a grain of salt and explain EVERYTHING. What you just posted is likely to get flamed hardcore, so I urge you to rethink your words.

I was brief on my description of my husky because I just wanted to see if anyone was even interested in a husky.

I have a three year old husky named Thunder. I have had him for four months and got him from owners who wanted to find him a new place because they were having a baby. They were not very honest with everything about Thunder and his background. Thunder was abused when he was a pup and nearly died until Animal Rescue saved him and nourished him back to good health. The previous owners had him for one year. We live in Iowa..near Ames.

Thunder is a great dog! He is fun, bonds very quickly and loves females more than males =). We started noticing his aggression about a month ago when he would jump on us and try to bite..but we quickly nipped that. It was not until recently that my boyfriend's dad was standing and Thunder went up to him out of no where and bit his arm. We are sure he was testing him, but still...we cannot have a dog like that =(((((( I love him soooo very much. If he can find the right place and proper training to hopefully get this aggression out then he would be such a great dog!!!! He is great with kids. But not good with other animals unless you walk past a dog and then bring him back to smell the dog he just walked by. He is an all white husky and has one blue eye and one brown =))

Very sad to hear that. It is truly a shame that the previous owners didn't give you all details about the pup you were adopting, but in all honesty they seldom do.

It is very Commendable you and the previous owners rescued Thunder and I am sure he is grateful. You say you've had him for 4 months and only started noticing the "aggression" in the last month or so? Are you 100% it is "aggression"? Wording like:

I'm not in your house and not with Thunder so I can't say for certain, but this doesn't sound like an aggressive act to me.... It sounds like a mouthy dog.

An aggressive Husky you know right away. They bear teeth, Their heads are low to the ground, they vocalize very deep and very long, and their hackles are UP. Then they bite. A random bite can and does happen, I'm not saying it doesn't, but generally when they bite for real they bear down and tear.

You also would have known a lot sooner than 4 months. The fact it took 3 months leads me to believe this is playful in nature and he is just now starting to Play with his new pack.

The way you describe this little guy he is playful, fearful, and mouthy (TO ME. I'm not in your place here).

If you indeed want to take the time to try and re-train Thunder you have come to the right place. The people on this forum will bend over backwards to help you and Thunder out how ever they can.


If however you are at the end of your journey together then You have also come to the right place.

Providing pictures will go a long way to helping the people on this forum get the word out about thunder and see if it isn't possible to find him that furever home.

Koda playfully grabs our arms and hands all the time playfully and out of affection. It's possible your dog just dies not know his mouthing is too hard. Did it break the skin and get all growly and fussy? If not, doesn't sound aggressive to me.

Yes, it is very sad that the owners were not honest with us. When we went to visit him before keeping him, he was jumpy and hyper, which is typical and I did not have an issue with that because it is easily trainable. I am actually scared to put on here why he is aggressive, but I am not going to be like his previous owners and hide his flaws.

When we first got Thunder, he was happy and jumpy and cheerful. We trained him to stop jumping and playful biting. Then about two months in my boyfriend's dad came downstairs, Thunder went to see who it was and immediately started baring his teeth and growiling. The hair on the back of his neck was sticking up and the dad had to run back upstairs. Then recently about one week ago, the dad came downstairs and everything was okay, then out of no where Thunder went up to the dad and put his mouth around the dad's arm and bit him. It drew blood. After this incident is when we decided we can no longer keep him because we cannot have him randomly do this to someone else =(. I honestly cannot believe I am typing this to find him a new home because I thought we were going to be his forever home and I love him so very much...we have a very strong bond.

Please do not judge me when I say this, but we would love to keep thunder if we found a trainer who could help him. I am in college and unfortunately do not have the time to train the aggression out of him =(. I knew what I was getting when I got Thunder, and it was a great, happy, fun, loving dog with lots of energy who I connected with. Unfortunately, the previous owners never spoke to us about his aggression towards people and dogs. They lied to us about how long they had him and about a few other things. They did not take very good care of him.

If we are unable to find Thunder a great new home, then we would keep him and give him the trainer he needs. We talked to a trainer and he said unfortunately it will be hard to find an aggressive dog a new home, but he is looking for a trainer who would keep him. If we have a trainer I am so scared that Thunder has so much trauma from when he was a puppy that the aggression will not be trainable, but I am willing to try. I do not know what I would do if the aggression would proceed, I would never ever take him to a shelter because I know he would be put down. I just need help finding him a great new home with a big fenced in background and a person willing to just help him.

I also want to find him help and a good home because it takes just one trigger for Thunder to react to and one bite and he would be put down, I am so desperate everyone.

Cali was aggressive when I got her...she lowered her head, growled very low tone, and showed her teeth if she had something that you wanted- be it empty food bowl, ball or other chew toy (that by the way SHE NEVER played with) What she needed though is to learn that I wasn't going to do anything. I would bring a nice treat over and ask her to trade for the object. Also to help with feeding issues, I would put the bowl down and hold on to it while she sniffed around the food. We were playing a game of who is going to win at wits here. She wanted me to let the bowl go so she could eat normally , while I wanted her to trust me. This took several weeks of work. The same thing about not knowing from previous owners is a big deal. I found out months later that she was abused at feeding time. It was like they used the bowl to bring her in just to hit her. It ticks me off how people treat their dogs, but that is a different story. The key is please be upfront to those interested in the husky, they need all the details. I would like for you to work with Thunder on his issues but I understand if it doesn't work out. I wish you the best of luck and to Thunder also, he needs to be happy

Wow I'm new here and just got Jeter a week and a half ago. I'm SO Sorry to hear this story as Thunder shouldn't have been abused, you shouldn't have been lied to, and I hope it all works out.

I have a few suspicions about Jeter but like you love him. Thankfully the stuff we're dealing with is minor as he's a puppy.
