Hello,

My name is Ashley I've been lurking around for awhile and getting advise from the threads so I figured it was time to introduce myself, me and my partner acquired 2 husky boys at the end of June. They are 6 month old brothers and we adore them. We got them from a breeder in Northern AZ and initially we had only planned to get one but they were very close and the breeder was concerned about breaking the pair up so we ended up with 2 (yeah we're basically both crazy). Anyway Shaxx is the grey boy, he's a sweetheart, he's very shy but when he warms up to you it's awesome he'll just roll over and wanna play. Zavala is the brown one, he's a goofball, the breeder was actually slightly concerned with him warming up to people and pulling away, he grew teeth before the other puppies and mom wasn't having it but since being with us he seems to have gotten over his fears, he's more likely to allow others to pet him then Shaxx, he's also more likely to get into stuff.

Greeting Ashley from the other southern desert - I'm in the Chihuahuan (in SW Texas) and you're in the Sonoran ( I didn't realize the Mojave extended that far east! )

At 6 months old you're still going to have the pleasure ( ahem?!? ) of seeing them as puppies ( x 2! ). They're make a beautiful pair - the red is particularly good looking, but then I think most of us like the reds. Your description of Zavala seems to fit a lot of Huskies - outgoing to the extreme after they're comfortable.

Welcome to the forum. Two is a hand full. Just make sure you know about litter mate syndrome and you train both separate of each other. Since the one has already shown signs of a lack of confidence this will be important.

I've nicknamed Zavala my little demon Laughing Although he does listen to the command "no" which I'm very grateful for.

Oh yeah, they get training together and separately. They also get meals and treats (like bones or stuffed kong) in their own crates and sleep in their own crates at night. I would be more worried if the breeder hadn't informed us of Shaxx being a shy guy from the start and if he let Zavala punk him but he doesn't, he's even claimed a toy as his own and Zavala just respects it. They've both even been coming around to getting pets more although Shaxx seems like he just puts up with it most of the time, he did seem to enjoy the kids at the park petting him tho and a lady in the neighborhood who is conveniently outside of her house when we go on walks. They do very good with other dogs too, they always invite my roommates shitzu mix to play and have learned they can't be as rough with him (its funny because he's calmed down a lot with age and when he's playing with him it's like he's a puppy, they even let him bite on them and he loves to bark with Zavala, we think they might be besties) and when we went to the dog park the first time they were very excited to meet the (few) dogs there, they gave the slightly smaller female dog more space after she seemed disinterested (at least they were being gentlemanly after they calmed down) and then each dog dug holes with her for a bit. I would be more worried if they were aggressive with other people or dogs or wanted nothing to do with our family but they love playing with us and hanging out with us so I think they'll be fine in the long run, Shaxx might just always be more of a shy dog which is something we're okay with but since being with us he's progressed a lot.
