| i just got a new 2 month old husky pup. She's gorgeous. The only thing i am concern of is that she's a little bit small compare to my other husky pup which is 2 weeks younger that her. The breeder said it is just normal because the litter has 7 pups.. is it true? I would really appreciate tips for a feeding program. what to feed her in order for her to catch up in terms of height and weights. Vitamins, food etc. Thank you and have a good day! |

| I guess it depends on what you are considering small? If I remember correctly, Gabby was only about 8lbs at 8 weeks and there were males in her litter that were around 13 lbs. The breeder had told us she was more the runt of the litter but is still grew to be around 35 lbs which is a pretty healthy weight for her. We did't take any extra steps to ensure she gained weight any faster. Just like people they do tend to be different sizes even if they come from the same litters.
My recommendation would be to have a Vet look at her and make a determination from there. You don't want them growing to fast as that could cause problems as well. |

| My little girl, Mishka is tiny...but so were her littermates with the exception of one. I personally wouldn't do anything but feed her normally. If she's small, she's small. Female huskies aren't very big in the first place. |

| Check with a vet to see if there are any issues. Chances are though, you just have a smaller dog. If you search around a bit here, there are a couple posts where people have updated the status of their dog (age, weight, etc) over a period of time.
Out of curiosity, I started following some of these to compare my pup to, and despite being a male, he was running the same size/weight of the smallest females. I was hoping for a larger sized male, but looks like he's going to be a smaller, leaner guy. Dogs, like people, vary.
I would not try to overfeed a smaller animal or try to make them 'catch up' with the norm though. Doing so could actually be bad for the dog. A dog that grows too quickly can end up having joint and skeletal problems that can lead to more serious issue later in life.
Feed her normally, don't worry about her size so much, and let her grow at her own pace. She'll be happier and healthier for it. |
