Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi
I am a new owner of a Siberian Husky for 4 months now. She is 13 months. Her name is Cujo. SHe is sooo pretty. She is the new love of my life. She absolutely had no training. She was always tied up in a garage. I taught 6 tricks in 2 weeks. She is very smart, but I can't get her to stop play biting, jumping on others, and try to keep her in the yard, which is very hard because my in laws live right beside me and they have a dog not chained up who stays in their yard. So of course Huskies love companionship and that s why she goes there. Its a good thing she loves car rides. As soon as I pull up with my car and open a door she hops right in. So any suggestions out there? I am 35, and first time dog owner. I need a lot of suggestions, as I am constantly looking for ideas for Cujo.

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Take a look around, read some of the past threads and you'll be able to answer a few questions that you have. If you don't find the answer to a specific question feel free to start a new thread asking for advice.

You'll see that everything is pretty organized here so it should be pretty easy to find what you're looking for.

Congrats on your new dog! I was a first time dog owner when I got Sitka and it has been quite a learning experience. The good news is that every other breed that you have from here on will be easy compared to your husky!

Julie
welcome!
We have a 6 and just over a 1 year old and our boy Jack who is the younger one still "play bites" and jumps i think it is still a puppy thing, he will only bit while we are peting him or prushing him and he likes to "smack" his jaw closed and it makes a funny noise, if your girl keeps getting out of your yard to go next door why not just take her over in the morning that way she will not wonder somewhere else one day? is your yard fenced in since you said the other dog is not chained up it made me think that it is not.
