Review on a few items I have picked up Empty
PostSubject: Review on a few items I have picked up    Review on a few items I have picked up EmptyFri Sep 23, 2016 7:20 pm

So its been a while since I have posted here and naturally we have purchased quite a few items while I was away.

The first item is the Ruffwear "Knot-a-leash"
The main selling point on these are the locking carabiners at the attachment point. We had some Kong rope leashes but the spring was pretty weak, and during a walk on the double lead the actually got off the leash. Luckily they were still on the double lead, and came back when called, so the locking feature is amazing. They are very comfortable and they feature reflective material in the leash. The only downside is no swivel, so if your dog likes to go in circles, the leash can get twisted.

Second item is the Amcrest ProHD 1080.
This is a WiFi camera that has full Pan/Tilt/Zoom. It is very affordable and has a free app that you can download. We use this to keep an eye on the dogs when we are not home. This is fully loaded, with night vision, motion detection, and lots of recording options. The set-up is relatively easy, and can be used both wired to ethernet or WiFi. It does everything I wanted it to do and more, and the price is unbeatable. The one complaint I have is the pan/tilt control on the app is a little too sensitive, and requires a precise touch. I would also recommend to set it up upside down on the ceiling, that way you have vision of the entire room from top to bottom. You can set it on a table, but it will only tilt so far down, and leaves a blind spot. If you need a WiFi camera this is a very good one to get.

Finally, the last item is the Ruffwear Palisades Pack.
We got this pack for our 2 year old female, she really needed a quality harness and because this converts from a Webmaster (which we have for our pup Loki) and the backpack, this was our choice. The collapsible water bottles are great, and the entire harness and backpack system is awesome. Lots of room for gear, stays nice and balanced, and the straps to pull in the saddle bags are a great feature. This is a very expensive harness/backpack, but very worth it. However, after only having it for a month, we had our female Sasha in the back seat of the truck while my wife was watching them and i was paying for parking. Somehow, she managed to break the strap on the harness. I'm fairly certain she chewed threw it, or chewed it enough to weaken it and break it. I don't know yet what Amazon or Ruffwear will do for me, but this is not normal conditions, and unless your dog has a habit of chewing through leashes/collars/harnesses, this would make a great pack for your pup.

Thank you for the review on the security camera! I immediately went to amazon and found it for purchase - I got it and a memory card for $118. That's amazing! And greatly needed - I want to see what all my girls are doing during the day. I will feel so much better!

I've heard good things about the ruffwear packs in general. We've been looking for a good pack for our adult husky, and riffwear has been the top of the list so far. Is your dog a heavy chewer or about average? If Mia puts her mind to it she can get through some pretty tough things... Hmm.

Yup Sasha has destroyed 3 or 4 collars now and a leash. She only needs a few minutes and its gone. She was in the back seat when she got hers off, however I ordered it from Amazon and they are sending me a new pack. The problem is we have short 14" long leashes hooked into the back seat of my truck so we can secure them when we travel, but she is more or less crazy and once I got out of the truck to pay for parking she wanted to go with me, and even with my wife sitting infront of her she broke it pretty fast. If she was paying attention to her it could have been prevented. We do have the Webmaster harness for our boy Loki, and its 3-4 months old now and still fantastic. We will get him a pack when he is old enough to start hauling for us. I would say if you do get the pack and your dog is a chewer, dont leave he/she alone in it.
