| Hi, I'm back writing again. Things are going pretty well but I wanted to know if anyone else's pups have these freak-out super jumpy-up-on-you somewhat nippy like he's so-excited-by-you-but-playing-too-rough-episodes? My husband will be training Logan, all will look sweet and calm, and he'll suddenly see me on the couch watching and come bombing over to me like he's suddenly pulling a sled and jump up at me being nippy and crazy, but with a big goofy happy smile. Commands he was following faithfully go out the window, sit-down-stay-lie, all gone. And it takes quite a long time to calm him down i.e. Stop jumping up on me. Anyone else's suddenly wig out like that? It would be adorable except he's kind of big for his age.... |

| By pulling a sled I mean his shoulders get all hunched up while he runs like he's pulling 100 pounds-serious running, not just prancing around. |

| Yup! Tongue hangin' out the side of his mouth, crazed look in his eye, bouncing like he is part jack rabbit, putting his mouth around my wrist and biting down just enough..... Not enough to hurt... until he pulls and then... I yell at him and he looks at me like I am the cruelest person on the whole planet and then he starts again! |

| Oh good! LOL I just feel bad that we have to be so stern with what seems like an innocent but very overdone "PLAY WITH ME NOOOW I'm tired of training with daddy!!!" display. But I feel like if we don't teach him that bowling someone over and mouthing them isn't acceptable as a pup..... I tremble to think of that same display as a full grown dog with, say, a child. And I think Logan's going to be a big boy, people have commented on his size. |

| Agreed on the zoomies. Gabby is just over 2 at this point and still gets them fairly often - not something they really grow out of but it does tend to happen on days she hasn't gotten a ton of exercise. At times she will sprint across the room and jump on on the arm chair that is sitting on the wood floor and slide it 2-3 feet across the room. As far as the mouthing, this is an excitement issue that can be worked on. Gabby was a very mouthy pup and no longer does it. There are other threads about it here.
Also, to add the the reasoning - A 3 month old puppy does not have the attention span to really spend a ton of time training which could be the cause. At least according to our trainer - Training sessions should be limited to 5-10 minutes at a time and build up to longer times. |
