2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.

Orijen Puppy or Acana Puppy? Empty
PostSubject: Orijen Puppy or Acana Puppy?   Orijen Puppy or Acana Puppy? EmptyThu Jan 28, 2016 3:43 pm

Hi guys! Axe is now a week shy of his 5th month, and is at around 8kgs. We have been feeding him Acana Lamb & Apple/Duck & Bartlett Pear for the past month and half, and we just discovered a store that carries the Orijen and Acana Puppy foods. Which would be better?

Thanks in advance! :-D

Welcome to the forum TJ....I would stick with the Acana. The Orijen is really intended for working dogs, it has a much higher protein level than the Acana. If the food you have Axe on is doing good don't try to improve on it. Huskies are prone to tummy upsets. Acana is truly one of the best, and in "pet" homes, I personally feel Acana is the better food to feed.

Thanks! I was just wondering, since I did read that Orijen has higher protein I figured it would be better for his formative years, and once he reached a year I would keep him on Acana and feed him raw 3x in a week.

Keep him on the Acana, you can start introducing the raw, I started a partial raw diet with both of my girls at 12 weeks old. Cute pup you have, reminds me of my Miya when she was his age.

I have used both Orijen and Acana, I agree with using Acana for non-working dogs. They are both great dog foods. I think they are made by the same company too.
