| Hey everyone,
My 4 1/2 month old husky took it upon himself to grab an entire crab on the beach and proceeded to eat it. I ran after him, told him to leave it, of course he didn't listen. I managed to get the claw from him but he ate the rest of the body. The crab was dead. Not happy. I am a little worried because of how sharp the shell and legs might be. Has anyone experienced this and if so, are crabs dangerous? Thanks! |

| The shell bits might be a little rough on him passing but for the most part small crabs should get broken down fairly well by the stomach acids. Large crabs have a little more brawn in their shells and aren't as easy to break down. I would keep an eye on him for any discomfort or pooping issues just in case but my initial instinct is that most, if not all, of the crab will be taken care of in digestion, at least enough so that it should pass without damage. _________________ |

| A dog can eat a crab with no problems. However, I would watch for any signs of illness because crabs can carry parasites. A healthy dogs immune system should handle it but just keep an eye out if there is a change in behavior/sickness. |

| Thanks for the advice guys! I have been watching his poop, or any vomiting. He did have some diarrhea so that was to be expected. what bugged me was that it was a big crab!! I was concerned about the parasites because he is still a puppy and was given treatment for Coccidia about a month ago. I can hardly wait until the puppy phase is over lol. |
