1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Thor of Va Beach Empty
PostSubject: Thor of Va Beach   Thor of Va Beach EmptyMon Oct 16, 2017 12:04 am

Good Day All.

I'm Carter; the soon to be new best friend of a new Husky Pup by the name of Thor.  I have previously had a female lap/pit who was part of the family for 10 years.  During that time I took in a young German Shepard, Titan, for a few months who was found near the dumpsters outside near the police department I worked for.  After getting him healthy I found him a good home.  I have been interested in getting a Husky for the past 5 yrs and have spent a lot of time with a friend of mine who has two Huskies and Malamute.  After much research and thought I lucked up when a former supervisor of mine from the military bred his husky Mia this past summer and reached out to me.
Thor was born 8.7.17 and he was 4 of 7.  I haven't had a dog in the house for 3 yrs so i'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning to finally go an pick him up this weekend.

I found this site two weeks ago researching a lot of random questions i've had specifically to Huskies.  With every Google search, this forum was always at the top of the results and answered a lot of questions from height/weight to temperament and collar width.  I finally decided since Thor is going to be a part of the family for a long time and i' might as well join a group with a lot of knowledge filled individuals and make some new associates myself.

I look forward to meeting many of you and having you apart of this journey.

From Top to Bottom & Left to Right: Mayhem 3yrs old and is black and white, but red from rolling in the clay dirt (father) and Mya 2yrs old and is black and white (Mother). Both are AKC registered. Next three are Aspen (black and white like their parents) and Thor playing. Bottom row are all Thor. Can't wait to go pick him up Saturday; i probably won't sleep Friday...LOL.

I don't do puppies but I can imagine the anticipation Smile Feel free to ask anything you'd like, Huskies are definitely "different" dogs - some have called them a cross between a dog and a cat - the independence and "I'll warm up to you when I'm ready, maybe!"

I do have to say that you have a cute little bugger there ... and welcome to our world!!

I feel you on the not sleeping the night before. That was me...twice...and I had a 9 hour drive the next day to go pick them up! Fortunately, the pups were as tired as I was that night so except for getting up to let them out to pee, we actually slept really good! Smile

Welcome! And congrats on your new pup! Sure is cute!

I don't think it matters the age. Once you know you are getting one you can't help but be nervous and excited all at the same time. Welcome to the forum! And welcome to the husky ride.
