Hey guys, so in a couple weeks we will be having hard wood floors be put into the house and I was hoping some of you could recommend a bootie that will help with traction. I already know Miya is going to hurt herself cause she rockets into the house and out of her crate ..like a ferrari this one is..
Thanks!!

Don't know anything about booties you could leave on that much but keeping nails trimmed and the hair between their toes trimmed helps. My two were rocketers before our floor change also and it stopped them cold in their tracks. Couple slips at first and then the lesson was learned. Frankly I would be more worried about the floors than the dogs. Dogs will learn to walk on it. Depending on the species of wood you get though their nails will chew up the finish in no time. A couple of my friends have hardwood in their houses and they have to throw all their stuff out refinish it every couple years. That's species specific though. If you are getting a harder species of wood you should be fine. Keep throw rugs ready at first. My dogs needed their islands to bounce from at first until they built up their bravery.

Im pretty good about keeping the nails trimmed and hair trimmed. Right, i just dont want her to hurt herself first time experiencing the floors. Its going to be real wood, not exactly sure on the specific type though. I was hoping to use booties to also protect the wood until I move this year...i can hope cant i haha plus the whole house was just painted and smoothed out..i can see them smashing into the walls lol
Lol thats funny that they used the rugs as safety islands
Thank you Smile

When you first introduce them to the floors you might leash them so they have to start slow. Not letting the slick floors surprise them that first time is key to saving them from hurting themselves. Mine remembered the slick floors the next time they came in. I did see these socks at chew.com. you would have to put them on and take off before sending outside but they look to be designed for indoor use like you're looking for.

Wouldn't booties or socks make it even slippier for dogs? Maybe get some of those area rugs that are like runners...so there is a pathway Miya and Memphis can follow?

If you are just looking to protect your floors until you move/sell, they do make a tacky plastic in rolls specifically for protecting floors while work is being done - it's clear, not exactly high style ( Rolling Eyes ) but it will suit your purpose as well as being less slippery.

we have laminate "wood" looking floors that aren't as easily scratchable as real wood and tile once you walk into the kitchen. So Lutsen had no choice but to adapt haha. I do agree with jenn that they will use rugs as a safe zone! We went from having just one rug to help with dirty shoes by the sliding door to three because of our little guy. Even though he's used to it now, he will still only initiate play time somewhere in the house where it is carpeted lol!
