| Those of you who are connected to rescues - what's the general range of fees? Is 450 plus 100 transportation in the realm of reasonable? |

| Exorbitant in my part of the world. US$200 is more likely. US$300 would be high down here. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

Hmmm...what I was thinking. Especially since he does not seem to have any special needs. |

| Amy are you thinking of actually rescuing(adopting) or fostering? The husky rescue here that won the calender and our donations this year Texas Husky Rescue charges this to adopt
Adoption fees* are $250 for males, $275 for females, and $300 for puppies under 6 months. NOTE: $100 is non-refundable if the husky is returned during the trial period
and the other one, Texas sled dog rescue
For dogs 1 years old to 7 years old, the adoption donation is $250 and due at the time of adoption. Puppies younger than 1 years old will be $300 and seniors over the age of 7 years old will be $150. As this is a donation, it will be non-returnable if dog is returned to rescue.
So that's to give you an idea... |

| Amy, that seems high, ours is about $300-$250 for puppies to mid age. $200 for over 5 and drops more for seniors. I don't think we have a transportation fee, if you are in a boarding state you have to come to us. _________________ |

| That seems an insane price. I would want to know what all "extras" come with that price. Training, medical expenses, etc. $150 is the going rate around here for adults. $250 for puppies/young dogs. _________________ |

I think the first clue is they are not a 501(C) place and they want 10. just to look at an application- but it's a little confusing - he's listed under Carolina Canine Rescues (both Niagara Falls and West Sand Lake, NY) which is who I contacted and got the auto reply of 450 plus transportation. But then, in the auto reply, I see saveamuttkennell for the email and going to their site, he is listed there, and the site says MOST dogs average 275. I'm waiting for a reply back from them. d In another front, Archer is acting really, really needy since we picked him up on Wed. He even jumped in bed with us, lying across my chest and then when Wayne started to get up, scooted across him, too. Don't know what's up with that...unless watching Jess pack for the trip was traumatic for him |

| Is this the husky rescued from a high kill shelter? If so, I'm wondering if that has something to do with the higher fee, I'm assuming they had to "buy" him to get him out of that shelter. I don't know how these things work though, it's just a theory. |

| I'd be very wary of non 501c3 operations. And yeah, that's really high. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword.
