This morning was interesting.
Usually before I pour Mylo's breakfast on the bowl I like to offer him some kibbles, make him sit and stuff. He was not interested in the kibble…
Immediately I think oh crap. what. now.
He's just sitting on his bed starring at me…I proceed to put his portion on the bowl...he usually says something, makes a sound as I'm walking to his bowl station..but nothing, still sitting starring..
I then put the bowl down and tell him to take it…still sitting looking at me from his bed…then it gets interesting. I got a treat and split it to pieces and put it in his bowl…Mylo gets up and picks out the treat pieces lol
I went to the restroom and when I came back he was all finished up with the bowl. I then offered him a kibble and he was interested.
This is a first. Is he trying to tell me something about his food? maybe he's bored of it? He's never been a picky eater and I have been having him on the same kibble since we brought him home.

Dave, guess I am the answer giver today, lol. I don't really buy into the whole bored thing. This is from a person who indeed has the most picky eater in the world, haha. I see nothing wrong in a rotation diet, and you do not have to worry about slow transitions if you stay within the brand and switch flavors. If he doesn't have a sensitive stomach you could also go ahead and try different brands. I think though in Mylo's case, he is just maturing and has learned how to self regulate. You did say he doesn't need the slow feeder bowl, so I am thinking he has found the right amount for him. Many huskies do self regulate. Some prefer eating only once or twice a day. So if you don't mind me asking how much total kibble do you feed in a day and how many times a day do you feed him? With Miya she prefers once a day, sometimes twice, and she normally eats around 8 or 9 pm, and if she didn't finish she will finish it up somewhere around 1-2 am. she gets a treat in the mornings and that is all she wants.

Hmmm self regulate? Insteresting!
Here's Mylos eating schedule, has been his schedule for almost the whole time we've had him:

- Breakfast (Half a cup) at 8am-ish or 9am.
- Mid day snack (sometimes) in between 12-1pm, consists of some treat, or maybe a kong.
- Dinner (1 full cup) at 6pm sharp

How much exercise did he get yesterday? If loki hasn't exercised he has very little appetite I've noticed.

I would not stress too much though. He still are the food after all. It could have been a moment of stubbornness lol.

My guess? He's just over a year, he is not growing anywhere near as fast as he has in the past year, he needs less food and he's beginning to self regulate.

He was interested in his dinner as usual this afternoon! Then again we were thirty minutes late cause we went to the park.

Awww little Mylo growing up, I don't mind less food haha but I'll continue to observe him. But my gf just told me he was doing something similar yesterday at dinner time (I was at work).

Dave, thanks for answering my questions. Self regulating is pretty common with huskies. Many of us have them. I think the amount you feed is fine, but maybe try and feed him once a day or switch his treat and breakfast around and see if that perks him up a little. Miya had a huge exercise day on Monday, probably double our norm, and she ate a few bites of raw and no kibble, so she is the opposite of some dogs, in that the more exercise the less she eats. So try switching up his eating times and see if that does the trick.

Thanks @MiyasMomma, I'm gonna continue watching his new ways, I'm thinking maybe skipping breakfast time and just feeding him half a cup at like 11 and keep dinner the same. Now that it's finally "cold", we are taking him out more often for fun.

One other thing that occurred to me this evening...

Starts with we frequently watch my 6 yr old grandson.  Sometimes, he doesn't eat more than a tidbit.  When I tell his Mom, she frequently says "he probably has to go poop"  to which I've always sort of been silently "huh"

Well - this morning Ami was not the bit interested in his breakfast, we packed and went on our way.  Then, not really interested in car snacks nor his dinner when we arrived at the hotel.  Starting to worry a bit, though he doesn't eat that well when traveling.  Wayne went to get Chinese, I walked Ami - who was really wooing and pacing and pawing to go out.  At the very first grassy spot, he, without any of the usual circling for just the right spot, did his poopy thing.  We walked a bit more, came back and, Voila!

Ate his dinner with alacrity.

So maybe my DIL has some wisdom I don't...

I always give Mylo breakfast after we I out and he does his business.
Anyway, he just did the same thing again while I was offering him breakfast. So I'm not gonna force him and just try again like in an hour or so.

I did take him to the park and had fun.
We offered him food again at 1pm and he didnt seem to interested however he seemed a bit more interested on the chicken tacos we were eating (we do not give him scraps).

He was a little interested during dinner today. I must mention that we have been having a little 5lb bag of Orijen puppy food and laying around that we got a while back cause it was part of some promotion at our favorite little pet shop over here. So we have been putting a little bit of orijen with his Dr. Tims kibble. He will ignore the Tim kibble given by hand but takes the Orijen instantly. Now were considering fully transitioning to Orijen. And if he really is gonna be eating less now then I wouldn't mind paying the premium for awesome Orijen.
